Again, the mobile app is the same one you’ll get with many Bluetooth thermometers, although you have six different channels on this one. What I Don’t Like Maybe you're an aspiring grill master or a barbecue enthusiast or perhaps you're looking to develop your meat-cooking skills. Whatever your reason for lighting up the grill, it's important to have a good wireless grill thermometer handy. Just like with other forms of cooking, grilling and smoking meat require accuracy, particularly when it comes to temperature. A wireless meat thermometer will not only help you get the precise temperature you need to cook your meat evenly and thoroughly without drying it out, but this gadget will also allow you to monitor temperatures from afar so you don't have to hover over your grill the entire time. I’ll be completely honest, I didn’t really need to make a list of Best Bluetooth Thermometers because the ThermoPro TP 25 stands above the rest. If you’re wondering why a certain, strictly-Bluetooth thermometer didn’t make the list, there’s probably a good reason. The ThermoWorks Signals can measure from 58 °F – 572 °F (-50 °C – 300 °C). The accuracy changes depending on what temperatures are being measured. ThermoWorks advertise the accuracy as:

The large temperature range goes from 14 to 572 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect to use with a wide variety of cooking methods. The Bluetooth connection functioned well for about 30 yards outdoors, and bit less indoors if there are walls separating you from the thermometer. Overall, we were pretty impressed with the functionality and accuracy of this model and couldn't find much to complain about, especially at this price. We tested 22 meat thermometers in our Birmingham, Alabama, testing lab to find out which were easiest to use and produced accurate readings. Additionally, our expert testers use certain models in their home kitchens, who regularly supply us with home-cooking insights and updates on long-term wear and tear.

If you’re using a thermometer with a rechargeable battery (like the MEATER), it’s important to always return it to the charger when after each use. The last thing you want is to reach for your meat thermometer when you need it most, only to find the battery has died. For thermometers that require disposable batteries, be sure you always have extra so you don’t run out mid-cook. And, as with all gadgets (especially ones you use for cooking), store all of the components together. I must admit I was skeptical of this company because of the unfamiliar name. However, if you do a little research, they are pretty legit.

Possibly the most rugged, commercial, professionally built thermometer on the market, with IP66 waterproofing, and commercial quality probes. Its range and incredibly versatile app are just some of the great aspects of the ThermoPro TempSpike. This waterproof thermometer is able to hold a charge for up to three months, and the probe can be used for up to 36 hours before losing its charge. Additionally, the charging case itself is a signal repeater for extending its range and has a built-in speaker in case you're not paying attention to your phone. There’s a lot of things you can customize in the settings. There’s a timer, hi and low-temperature alerts, real-time graphing, and historical graphing. The Carbon Lite will save your most recent cook’s temperature charts for you to reference later. The ThermoPro TP-25H2 might be a better choice for those of you that don’t have a need for the four probes of the TP25 model.

The options are a remote device that connects to the probe, or an app that connects to the thermometer and sends information to your phone. While an app is convenient—and eliminates the need to keep your eye on an additional device while grilling—there’s also the risk of your phone dropping a Bluetooth or wireless connection. If you regularly find apps or Bluetooth-enabled devices frustrating, a wireless thermometer with an included transmitter might spare you some stress while cooking. Some advanced wireless thermometers (like the MEATER) allow the charging box to be used as a signal repeater, nearly doubling the wireless range, though it’s not always as strong as a direct signal.Nobody truly needs a smart meat thermometer—but if you’re a serious foodie, or nervous in the kitchen, they can be invaluable. That’s doubly true if you’re attempting ambitious foods on a grill or in a smoker. In addition to telling you the temperature inside your food, serious barbecue cooks will appreciate the ability to monitor ambient temperature inside a grill at the same time, which can clue them in as to when a fire has grown too hot, or started to go out. Perhaps the most important feature of a wireless thermometer is its wireless range and how it connects. After all, if you’re buying a wireless thermometer, it’s likely because you don’t want to be glued to the grill for the duration of your cook—no matter how short or long. The range can vary widely among devices, from around 100 feet to more than 300 feet. Keep in mind, too, that a device’s range is variable depending on whether it’s indoors or outdoors because walls and structures can weaken a signal. The ThermoWorks signals is a professional-grade thermometer that is as accurate and reliable as you will ever find. It is equally good for amateur pitmasters and the experts among you.

Accuracy: Above all, a thermometer should deliver an accurate temperature reading. We tested these thermometers in several applications, from an ice bath, to monitoring an immersion circulator bath, boiling water, and grilling pork to 135 degrees Fahrenheit. The more precise the reading, the higher the rating.Bluetooth connectivity is strong and reliable, and the smartphone app shows you all essential info bright and clear, with hard-to-miss notifications. It is also Wi-Fi enabled for remote monitoring anywhere in the world. The controller contains a rechargeable battery that can run for up to 30 hours on a single charge, and the unit can also be used while plugged in. Smartphone app is a bit cluttered with links to Thermoworks store, help center, support, blog, and featured recipes. It’s my understanding that each thermometer puts an electrical current across thermometer probe, and the resistance of the probe changes with heat so that the reading device can detect the change in current and / or voltage, and from this determine the temperature.
