It is a great emollient and moisturizer working mainly by occlusivity.Occlusivity is one of the basic mechanisms of how moisturizers work and it means that mineral oilsits on top of the skin and hinders so-called trans-epidermal water loss, i.e water evaporating out of your skin. When compared to heavy-duty plant oil, extra virgin coconut oil, the two of them were equally efficient and safe as moisturizers in treating xerosis, a skin condition connected to very dry skin. It only protects against UVB and notUVA rays (the 320-400 nm range) – soalways choose products that contain other sunscreens too. It is not very stable either, when exposed to sunlight, it kind of breaks down andloses itseffectiveness(not instantly, but over time - it loses 10% of its SPF protection ability within 35 mins). To make it more stable it can be - and should be - combined withother sunscreen agents to give stable and broad-spectrum protection (the new generation sunscreen agent, Tinosorb S is a particularly good one for that). It has a bad reputation among natural cosmetics advocates but cosmetic scientists and toxicology experts do not agree (read more in the geeky details section)

There is some controversy around BHT. It's not a new ingredient, it has been used both as a food and cosmetics additive since the 1970s. Plenty of studies tried to examine if it's a carcinogen or not. This Truth in Aging article details the situation and also writes that all these studies examine BHT when taken orally. It is obtained from the root of Glycyrrhiza Glabra Linneva and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine. But let’s assume a bad combination of ingredients were used and the nitrosamines formed. :( Even in that case you are probably fine because as far as we know it cannot penetrate the skin. Not only a simple moisturizer but knows much more: keeps the skin lipids between our skin cells in a healthy (liquid crystal) state, protects against irritation, helps to restore barrierChemically speaking, it comes from the attachment of sorbitan (a dehydrated sorbitol (sugar) molecule) with the fatty As for skincare, it makes the skin silky smooth, creates a subtle gloss and forms a protective barrier (aka occlusive). Also, works well to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and give skin a plump look (of course that is only temporary, but still, it'snice). There are also scar treatment gels out there using dimethicone as their base ingredient. It helps to soften scars and increase their elasticity. Biluma Advance Skin Brightening Lotion gives you visibly clear and glowing skin with natural brightening ingredients in just three weeks. Agua, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Propylene Glycol, Paraffinum Liquidum, Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate and PEG 100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol and Ceteareth - 20, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Water, Morus Alba Leaf Extract, PEG - 4 Olivate, Aqua, Glycerin, Rumex Occidentalis Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahydrocurcumin, Methyl Paraben, Butylated Hydroxy Toluene, Disodium Edetate, Triethanolamine, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Fragrance, Propyl Paraben, Artocarpus lakoocha wood extract & Butylated Hydroxy Anisole. Skin type recommendations: Biluma cream should be applied on the dark patches only. It should not be applied on a full face, until unless your full face has tanned. It can be used in oily skin because it does not contain comedogenic ingredients. Biluma cream might irritate sensitive skin types. Thus, you should do a patch test before the first use of Biluma cream, especially if you have sensitive skin. Also-called: Octinoxate, Octyl Methoxycinnamate;Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate | What-it-does: sunscreen| Irritancy: 0 The famous or maybe rather infamous mineral oil. The clear oily liquid that is the "cheap by-product" of refining crude oil and the one that gets a lot of heat for its poor provenance. It is a very controversial ingredient with pros and cons and plenty of mythsaround it. So let us see them: Normal (well kind of - it's purified and deionized) water. Usually the main solvent in cosmetic products.Licorice has glabridin that prevents pigmentation by UVB rays and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Biluma cream helps in fading the dark skin and is a potent antioxidant and has skin-lightening action It does not have the very best safety reputation but in general, you do not have to worry about it. The unique thing about petrolatum is that it is the most effective occlusive agent known today. While the occlusivity of mineral oil is in the same league as the occlusivity of plant oils, petrolatum is in a league of its own. It sits on top of the skin and hinders so-called transepidermal water loss (TEWL) like nothingelse.

Badmouthing mineral oil is a favorite sport of many, it is a cheap material and being connected to petrolatum makes it fairly easy to demonize. The information provided here is accurate, up-to-date and complete, however, it should not be treated A super common multitasker ingredient that gives your skin a nice soft feel (emollient) and gives body to creams. Arbutin seems to work its magic and hinder the pigmentation process at the second step of it. An enzyme called tyrosinase is needed to create melanin (the pigment that causesthe brown spots) and while several other skin lightening agents work to inhibit the synthesis of tyrosinase itself (like vitamin C or licorice), arbutin lets tyrosinase be and rather hinders the melanin-forming activity of the enzyme. (So it might be a good idea to combine arbutin with some direct tyrosinase inhibitors for more skin lightening effect.) Tocopherol or Vitamin E helps lighten and repair damaged skin due to its potent anti-oxidant action.Galderma, the maker of Cetaphil products, manufactures Biluma cream. It can be used for mild cases of hyperpigmentation combined with other skin-lightening agents, as discussed in this article, Skincare routine for hyper-pigmentation. Biluma cream can be used to reduce pigmentation caused by the following: It's the acronym for Butylated Hydroxy Toluene. It's a commonsynthetic antioxidant that's used as a preservative.
