In a way with these flashbacks, I felt even closer to these characters as you got given an insight to each of their life’s, you got to how it changed them and made them into the boys who turned into men real quickly, we also got the front row seat of when feelings started to get blurred and crossed the line.

As I said the first book in the series Freestyle begins with the protagonist’s, Penelope or Pen, audition for a chance at a new life, at a dance school.

I honestly didn’t think that I could go from swooning, to my heart beating out of my chest, to heartbroken and crying and then to horny as hell. This ends in a cliffhanger, but damn, that’s a pretty good one because I feel like that’s when the spice really starts! Pen is in a league of her own, she’s super talented, sassy, fiery, takes no crap from anyone and is quick whited. I know it needs to be like that for the story but I just prefer it when it’s all squished at the front so I can get on with the present. Rather than sense off the chart hormones between them like I wanted, all I felt was each barb as word by word they made everything worse.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Now back together, Pen has to decide if she will forgive, if they can forgive her and if they can love each other again. We also only learn about characters that seem to be really important at the very end, even though Pen already knew that person.

This does leave on one hell of a cliffhanger and in the middle of a scene I normally would not mind but I am so repulsed and enraged I want to punch something. This is described beautifully with only a few things being revealed at a time, leaving the reader in a perfect place of knowing nothing but having all the guesses. Of course the guy himself clearly has no problem with losing one best friend and the girl he loves, but okay. I am sad to say I will continue the series, as I do want to continue to hate it and have all the arguments for said hate.

I'm not even going to get into the Sweet Home Alabama aspect of the atrocity that was this story because honestly, how could I ever?

I couldn't believe that they fell in love with one another without enough history as to how and why. Nothing could prepare you for the turns of events and the twist and turns that this book presents itself. There were some things not disclose properly in the book but I hope to get that clarify while I read book 2. But, it keeps you hooked, anxious to find out what is happening back in the timeline you were exploring, and it really serves our characters well- helps us understand them and also the impact of the past on the present as Bea skillfully juxtaposes the past and present- in character voice and emotive tone, in how they look, and, brilliantly, in how they dance.

In some books the men are just okay with sharing a girl with their best friends or brothers because they "feel" is right, because they've done everything together their whole lives, so it just makes sense. There were quite a few times throughout the whole book, but especially Finale, that really got to me. She’s the kind of heroine you can admire and root for, the kind of heroine who you empathize with and hurt for. If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes and the enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you. This has a lot of the hallmarks of a reverse harem book and while I'm intrigued, I hope this series starts to differentiate itself more. What she doesn’t expect to see are the men that not only changed her life for the better but also ruined her.
