M" is for the Malek family: four sons now nearing middle age who stand to inherit a fortune--four men with very different outlooks, temperaments, and needs, linked only by blood and money. Eighteen years ago, one of them--angry, troubled, and in trouble--went missing. Plus here are some of our reader favorites: Professor Barry Carpenter, OBE, PhD, University of Worcester M is for Autism invites us into the world of a young woman with autism and allows us to view it through her lens. What an intriguing world we enter. This is a book to be read by everyone! Is she really very crunchy? Does she mouth tape? What was she really thinking when I slathered her son in lavender oil after he got into his first ever bed of fire ants? (Ugh, Texas, c’mon!) Seriously, I thought these stories were good enough, many of them, the first THREE times they were published. Five times, in at least one case, and possibly two. But there is not a single new story in this collection, folks. I almost titled this review "R is for Ripoff."

No matter your response, be encouraged that God is not surprised by your struggles in motherhood (or anything else), and there IS always hope in Christ and a purpose in the growing pains we all experience as moms--even if only to draw us closer to the one who never leaves us or forsakes us. October in the Chair": the twelve months of the year periodically gather in a circle to tell stories and each time one of them becomes the 'president' of the evening, which is responsible for making decisions and tell the final story. It’s the time of October that tells a disturbing whose protagonist is a child and leave us a thousand questions about his fate. Our solar system is in the Milky Way galaxy. We can see the Milky Way as a band of stars in the night sky. Understanding and education are key to us all getting along and I think this book should be in every school library and all children, autistic or not, should be encouraged to read this book and it's sequel which I've not yet read but intend to. Their second favorite are monsters. They get equally excited when we have these imaginary creatures in our stories, songs, and/or games.

A metal is an element that has a crystalline structure when it is solid form. Many metals are shiny and many conduct electricity. Some metals include iron, copper, silver, and gold. A meteorite is a meteor that has fallen to Earth. Meteorites are made of stone, iron, or stony-iron. I am utterly in love with this book. Part secret journal, part Perks of Being a Wallflower, part every girl, part just-like-me (yep, I have always seen letters as having personalities!), M is for Autism is a secret gem. We all need to know, after all, that there IS a "Sisterhood of the Spectrum". And I'm proud to say that M fits in perfectly! What I gather from this book (intended for a YA audience) is that Gaiman allows himself to get more experimental with stories than perhaps with his novel. As always, the writing is superb. Sometimes, the stories edge on the likably bizarre. This is likely the best book on motherhood I have ever read. Abbie is rooted in scripture, experienced (10 kids), yet still in the throws (18M youngest), down to earth, tells it how it is, kind, humble, and only points you to Christ, and occasionally tells you what works in their family. Every mom needs to read this, and I’ll be buying copies for future gifts. This made it hard to review because I agree with each of these themes: Embracing motherhood, striving for excellence, not excusing poor behavior and choices. But the rest of the content left me feeling like I drank that RedBull, I get that burst of feel-good/self righteous energy and motivation, “yes! I will read my Bible, work harder, and be a more excellent mama, [no mediocrity for me thank you]” but I know, from past experience, this doesn’t sustain me for the marathon that is parenting in a connected, healthy, whole-hearted way. My experience is also that books like this were the wrong thing to be reading in the intense seasons of trauma parenting, as well as the intense toddler moments. We will never have peace until to listen to the Holy Spirit in the area he is nudging us to grow in.
