I'm not going to rate this book because it did bring out some emotions in me. I stewed in bed until I finally fell asleep and woke up still thinking about it. This is probably the longest review I've ever done. It probably makes zero sense because I am not a writer by any means. Featuring ~multiple 1st person POV, 18 yo characters, college, twins, WAY over protective brother and friends, football, love triangle~ish, minimal steamage Nonetheless, the pacing of the book was very well done and I loved how character-driven it was. Do gotta say there isn’t much of a plot but the characters made up for it! (Except for Chase lmao) I was so upset finishing this book solely because I never wanted it to end. If i could read it over and over again forever, I would. This story was perfect and beautiful. But so heartbreaking and raw and painful. You will go through every emotion possible with this book. But it will leave you feeling complete. I will love this book forever and ever and will never stop thinking about it.

Starting out I loved this book. I couldn't put it down! I love a good brother's best friend trope! The adventures their little group went on were fun and it was cool how close they were. Noah, sweet sweet Noah ~ what an all around delightful guy he was for being only 21. He and his mama had such a heartwarming relationship.

Arianna goes into a bit of a depression, but eventually meets Noah. The smut doesn’t start until about 50% in. It really disturbed me that he didn’t wear a condom or even discuss birth control with Ari yet he supposedly cared about her. They’re 18 and 21. They weren’t ready for a baby yet.

It has so many other tropes that I don’t want to spoil but if you want to know… look at the bookshelves here. The story revolves around 5 inseparable best friends ~ Arianna, Mason, Chase, Brady & Cameron. They were together constantly in high school, are deeded a beach house together and go to college together. The girls live together and the boys live together. The boys play football together and if the girls aren't at the games then they're watching it on tv together. That's a whole lot of togetherness. UNTIL I was lost with Payton..Parker? Nate? I did do a little research because I felt like I was missing something. Apparently, Nate and his girl (can't remember her name) are the main characters in another series by the author.I do gotta say though that some of the things certain characters (such as Cam and Brady) said were a bit cringe imo but not that bad that I had to look away lol. So I liked this well enough, but I feel like I could have liked it a bit more about 10 years ago, not when these characters are close to my daughters age. I can’t be thinking about my precious girl doing all the things these kids are doing ~ fake id’s, underage drinking and hookin up and what not. Can’t say I didn’t do it myself, but ya know, not my sweet baby girl. Going to have to start phasing out of reading YA romance. The guys are all football players and are really good. Its not the main focus of the book, but it is a dynamic in their lives thats always been there. Honestly, I don't really like the author's writing. And the story and characters are just totally unrealistic; it's clear that the author writes from a list of plot points she wants to hit without truly doing any world or character building. Just like an actor takes on a role and has to understand the nuances for how characters would behave in certain instances, author's also need to do this work to bring their characters and worlds to life. noah riley is the best book boyfriend of all time. i will forever adore him. he is the most selfless, most amazing human being to ever exist. i love the way he sacrificed himself in so many situations. and the love he had for his mom just melts my heart.

Like this is really not a great way to start. It's so cliche to already have a trio of super-hot guys that are all friends. But then the author tells us they're all also super smart, super athletic, and bad boys. Later we also learn that they're similar heights. So the only difference is their hair color I guess... And just as your were hoping for some good news, Noahs second tragedy happens and my heart breaks for him. He was so broken, from what happened to Ari that when his mother passes he's barely holding on. I rated it four stars purely because of the emotions and vibes I experienced during the book. However, there are a lot of plot holes, and the book didn't need certain additional plot elements (no spoilers here!) and probably didn't need to be as long as it is. It could have been shorter yet equally impactful. let me just say, the hype is real! i went into this pretty blind, not knowing much other than a few of the tropes and i’m so glad i did. this book is by far one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking books i’ve ever read.Say You Swear could have easily stood on its own as a standalone novel, as the side characters had minimal impact on the main plot so it could have cleared up a lot of confusion if they weren’t added.
