Description

Discusses the status of the species in the wild, examines how human activities impact on their habitat, and develops projections to translate this in terms of overall panda numbers

With adorable watercolor and pencil illustration, How This Book Got Red delights the readers with the depictions of both red pandas and giant pandas. Red’s emotions rise and fall as his confidence in his illustrated story ebbs and flows. Readers can all relate to feeling nervous about creating something and putting it out in the world. When another red panda finds his book and reads it, the previously ignored red panda community shares their excitement and cheers for Red’s creativity and confidence. But with poachers also on the hunt for Iniya, a red panda about to have cubs, it soon becomes a race against time to find her first.Thankyou to Netgalley and Jess Butterworth for allowing me early access to this wonderful little book. When eight-year-old Tilly wins the Adventure Club competition at her new school, she’s thrilled to be travelling to Nepal! She and the other Adventure Club winners, Leo and Anita, will learn how to protect red pandas in their natural habitat.

Red Panda: Biology and Conservation of the First Panda, second edition provides the most up-to-date research, data and conservation solutions for the red panda, Ailurus fulgens, including information on biology, pathology, husbandry and captive management. Since the publication of the previous edition in 2010, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has updated the threat level of red pandas as an endangered species. This edition provides an in-depth look at the scientific and conservation-based issues urgently facing today's red panda. This is a vital resource for conservationists, zoologists, and biologists, whether focused specifically on red panda research or general species conservation. Written by long-standing red panda experts as well as those specializing in fields involving cutting-edge red panda research I was so proud of Red and how she kept going and I loved that Gee was there to motivate her and be emotional support. So sweet! All in all, an adorable and fun book about inclusivity, about having to step up to make something happen, about friendship, and there are some gorgeous illustrations to make the story come to life even more. I would recommend it~ Red pandas, which grow to about the size of a house cat, are impressive acrobats that climb and swing on trees in their Asian forest homes, and they once sparked fierce debate about their relationship to giant pandas. Taxonomists previously assigned them to both the raccoon family and the bear family, but DNA research later revealed that they belong to their own unique family (Ailuridae) and genus ( Ailurus).Red and Gee are pals and enjoy doing panda things together, but when they read a book about pandas they make a terrible discovery. There are no red pandas in the book! Reports on status in the wild, looks at conservation issues and considers the future of this unique species

Red pandas have shot to viral fame for their adorable looks, but there’s a lot more to these elusive animals than their kitten-like faces and striking reddish-brown coats. As soon as she arrives in the Himalayan mountains, Tilly loves the Adventure Club Centre. As well as a friendly team of vets and expedition experts, there are tents to sleep in, a gorgeous dog called Mr Fluff and, most excitingly of all, a tame red panda! What I found most appealing about this book was its environmental lessons - there's a real place for stories that explore our responsibility to our planet. The animal care and Tilly's wish to continue this work after the mission is lovely and inspired us too. My little girl loves Red Pandas so this was always going to capture her interest. It's a steady read that charts Tilly's Red Panda mission when she wins the chance to go on an expedition in Nepal to find Red Pandas – finally some adventure in her life! I loved the way she charts her objectives along the way and the obstacles that might stop her achieving them - it's a great way for kids to see solution focused thinking in action. There's highs and lows on the mission and lots to learn too. My daughter said 'she thought it was great and loved the Red Pandas' and we've been finding out more about them since.
