Teachers, learn more about social-emotional learning in the classroom. Best Picture Books for Kids About Emotions & Feelings Summary: Farley Jones has an opportunity to take her stand up comedy to the next level when a pair of A-list comedians invite her to join their tour. Her invitation relies on one thing - pretending to date her friend and manager, former comedian and celebrity screenwriter Meyer Harrigan. Sparks fly as they navigate their own feelings among the spin they are creating for the gossip columns.

I think I was expecting more of an unrequited love situation with a fake dating sort of thing that would have resulted in a bunch of laugh out loud funny moments because she’s a comedian… but I didn’t find the book funny at all and the overall vibes were nothing like I was expecting it to be. So, I've had this book on my TBR for a while, and honestly I don't even know if I ever knew what it was about or if it was the cover that drew me in. Needless to say, I went in blind and ehh When Flamingo announces he’s feeling down, the little girl and Potato try to cheer him up, but nothing seems to work. Not even dirt! (Which usually works for Potato.) I can’t say enough good things about the SEL When I Feel” books by Cornelia Maude Spelman . They’re well-written, accepting, and offer strategies for understanding the different emotions. The series includes: Teach kids to be kind and considerate, with a fun and friendly book about the importance of empathy.Monster is in a bad mood.Despite our best efforts, reality doesn’t always meet our expectations. There is no need to be upset or mad.

In When Sadness Is at Your Door, Eva Eland brilliantly approaches this feeling as if it is a visitor. She gives it a shape and a face, and encourages the reader to give it a name, all of which helps to demystify it and distinguish it from ourselves. She suggests activities to do with it, like sitting quietly, drawing, and going outside for a walk. The beauty of this approach is in the respect the book has for the feeling, and the absence of a narrative that encourages the reader to “get over” it or indicates that it’s “bad,” both of which are anxiety-producing notions.I absolutely ADORED this book. Perfection from start to finish. I truly felt like I was the one experiencing all the fun things about the start of a new relationship, the small touches, the flirty smiles, the butterflies. I felt it all. All those little moments were written so perfectly I swear I was blushing as if it were happening to me. This book was not only hilarious and witty and fun, but the emotional maturity of the characters was just so refreshing. It was so wonderful to read a love story about people who get awkward and giddy and start overthinking things but then communicate their feelings. I kept thinking there would be some big blow up or miscommunication, but there really wasn’t. It`s my humble request to everyone to express themselves without thinking who would judge you or what would someone think of you. It's OK to express. It's OK to express sadness as we express happiness.

Jim the chimpanzee is in a terrible mood for no good reason. His friends can’t understand it–how can he be in a bad mood when it’s SUCH a beautiful day? They have lots of suggestions for how to make him feel better. But Jim can’t take all the advice…and has a BIT of a meltdown. Could it be that he just needs a day to feel grumpy? How are you feeling today? This fun, friendly and reassuring introduction to feelings is designed to help young children recognise, understand and name how they’re feeling and learn to talk about and manage their emotions in helpful ways.

The fabulous illustrations and simple rhyming couplets bring any discussion about emotions with young children to life. Scaredy Squirrel never leaves his nut tree. It’s way too dangerous out there. He could encounter tarantulas, green Martians or killer bees. But in his tree, every day is the same and if danger comes along, he’s well-prepared. Scaredy Squirrel’s emergency kit includes antibacterial soap, Band-Aids and a parachute.
