Unsurprisingly the Ultramarines option features a lot of guys on foot. While obviously a decent starter set for someone who wants to play Ultramarines, this is probably one of the harder sets to apply to a different chapter since five of the characters have lots of Ultramarines iconography on them that’s a pain to convert. Existing Space Marine players aren’t likely to get much use out of this box since Hellblasters and Intercessors are commonplace. Storm of Chogoris The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here. You don’t just get a selection of units in these battleforces, either. Each one comes with a set of detailed upgrade sprues and transfer sheets, so you can make your new Space Marines look like they’ve walked right out of your chosen Chapter’s forge. Flaming braziers, curved chainswords, and bionic enhancements are all here for the enterprising Warhammer hobbyist.

Well, I have mixed feelings about Games Workshop-on one hand, their prices often make me scream in outrage, and I resent them a bit precisely because I know I'll end up paying those prices just to scratch my itch. On the other hand, I love the fact that they do provide a rich source of gaming fodder in plastic, and I get a LOT of gaming mileage out of their stuff.

Salamanders Warforged Strike Force

Avenger • Chiropteran • Lightning ( Strike) • Marauder Bomber ( Destroyer • Colossus • Vigilant • Pathfinder) • Thunderbolt ( Fury) Valkyrie ( Vendetta • Sky Talon • Vulture) The Termagants were kind of iffy-it's really obvious that 4 out of the 10 are 2-piece models when you look closely at the left arms of some of them, 'cause there's a huge chunk of featureless plastic that eliminates the undercut between the torso and the bicep. I think they should have just done them all the same way, because the other 6 look fine. While not necessarily the most competitive force at the moment, Space Marines remain a fantastic way for new players to try out Warhammer 40k and a fun way for players of other factions to try out a different play style. Space Marines also feature a lot of flat surfaces that are easy to paint, so it might be a good way to try something different if you’re burned out on your current army. Of the boxed sets I would recommend the March of Iron to start with, as it includes enough models to form a Patrol detachment, the models are easily applied to any Chapter, and big stompy robots are a ton of fun. Players could also consider the Bastion Strike Force if they like the look the Gravis units. The Ravenstrike Battle Force and Storm of Chogoris are the most specialized and seem more useful to players who have a specific need to expand their existing armies. This is unquestionably the most specialized box set revealed, which makes it appealing for anyone who needs more bikes in their army and easily ignored by everyone else. This box also highlights how few Primaris HQ options have any real mobility; if there was an Inceptor Captain or another Primaris character on a bike then the box would have likely included that instead of forcing Kor’sarro to walk. The contents are easy to apply to a wide variety of Chapters, with even Khan being readily converted into a particularly thematic character. Apocalypse • Emperor • Oberon • Retribution • Victory • Nemesis • Vanquisher • Invincible Class • Gothic Class • Graia • Adjudicator

Though the individual characters and the Chapter Specific Upgrades spure here, slightly deter anyone looking to simply bolster another Space Marine force on a budget. The last new Space Marine Army box is for Salamanders, and it keeps it distinct with tons of bodies and tons of flamers! Space Marine Heroes The Scions of Macragge Battleforce box features two of the greatest heroes of the Ultramarines, alongside the solid core of a Codex-compliant collection in the form of Intercessors, Hellblasters, and Bladeguard Veterans. The last bundles we covered were for Deathwatch and Rogue Trader, but they have a different RPG style this time around! Once again, the set was almost overflowing with miniatures for each army, and featured the first appearance of dedicated models for Chaos Cultists, Chosen, and a reimagining of the Chaos Dreadnought of old in the form of a fearsome Helbrute . But it wasn’t all about the Chaos Space Marines – the Dark Angels force included a squad of Ravenwing and Deathwing in addition to a bespoke Tactical Squad. What’s more, the initial wave of Dark Vengeance sets also included a limited edition miniature of Interrogator-Chaplain Seraphicus.

Keep in mind there has been a price increase since this released, so there is even more value to be had now. Should you need Intercessors then this is the box for you. Featuring enough models to form a complete Patrol, this box is probably the best starter for anyone who doesn’t have Space Marines but is interesting is trying them out. The Salamanders Upgrade Sprue includes some fun bits that are applicable to other chapters, including thunder hammers and torch bits. The Eradicators are also one of the more effective units in Space Marine forces, and with the Salamanders Super Doctrine the flamer Aggressors can be surprisingly terrifying. What’s Right for You? Four years later, the Dark Angels’ hunt for the Fallen took centre stage as they faced off with the Chaos Space Marines renegades known as the Crimson Slaughter in Dark Vengeance.
