This paint is touch-dry within an hour and re-coatable in around 4 to 6 hours making it a convenient option for surfaces such as doors and windows.

It’s important to clarify that Rustins’ entry on this list isn’t necessarily a direct competitor to Dulux and Johnstone’s. Rustins markets this product as “small job” paint, sold exclusively in 250ml tins, which means it’s not a whole-house product. Indeed, it would cost many times more than the other two if you were attempting to cover much more than the 3.25 square metres you can expect from a tin of this size. Cover everything you don’t want to get paint on with a dust sheet. Our paint it drip resistant but not accident-proof.Second is to make your brush slightly wet with water from time to time, so having a scuttle or mug with a little of water will be useful. It makes the gloss flow a lot easier. Just make sure to not do it too often, or too much water, as this gloss run like water anyway.

Opacity of the gloss is poor. However, opacity of the primer makes up for it! You can apply multiple coats of either product in a day and the ease of use is brilliant. The best thing about Teknos Futura 90 is, unlike most other hybrid or water-based gloss paints, it has an incredibly high sheen level. It’s very durable too!!It feels as though Johnstone’s Aqua gloss has much more oil in it than Teknos Futura 90. You cannot simply wash a brush out with clean water, as you would with other systems. Instead, you should start off with water, then finish washing out with a product called Clean Spirit. Traditionalists regard oil-based paint as more durable (and therefore better) but it usually takes longer to dry and has a stronger smell, which takes longer to dissipate. Another bonus is it keeps its shine well. After use, brushes need to be cleaned with a spirit-based product, so that’s something else to keep in mind. We’re big fans of the Ronseal One Coat and would recommend it over any other when it comes to gloss for radiators. If you really want a nice finish with this, we’d recommend giving your radiator a clean and sand down any rusty bits leftover from the old paint. Optionally, you can prime the radiator first with something like BIN Primer.
