When Abbie introduces her father (ED) to her fiancé, Ryan; Ed instantly mistrusts Ryan. On the surface, Ryan seems like the perfect catch - he is successful, charming and handsome. But Ed can feel that something isn't quite right with the young man. Not only did he not pay the private investigator; he also forwarded the report exposing him as a liar and criminal to his and Abbie's house. He had no financial issues. He could've settled the bill or bought a P.O. box. The ending wraps up all loose ends and while I didn’t like the ending too much (as in how it ended) I do think it was the right ending. I sometimes feel that a book having an unpredictable ending can be an indicator that the ending is far fetched but that wasn't the case with this book. The ending, though unpredictable was still very plausible. The Catch feels more experimental compared to the other T. M Logan books I've read, this one was perhaps a little darker than the others and it felt like the author was stretching out some muscles and testing the water. I am eagerly awaiting the chance to read Logan's next novel, Trust Me to see how this darker side develops. Two weeks after it came out as an e-book, I discovered that my day job – by this point I was a deputy director in charge of the university’s communications team – was being made redundant as part of a restructure. That was when I decided to take the plunge into writing full-time, which I have been doing since summer 2017. It’s a job that I love.

Ed wasn't expecting to find out that his daughter Abbies boyfriend is in fact her fiance once he finally meets Ryan for the first. I listened to this via audio book, having recently read The holiday which I loved. The book was read by Philip Stevens who was a really good narrator. The Catch book ending then jumped to a year later when Claire and Abbie were laying flowers on Ed and his son’s graves. Ed’s body had been found on the moor, as had the bodies of Ryan’s first wife Lori, his foster mother Eileen and two other unidentified women. By this time Abbie had given birth to her and Ryan’s son and the final words of the book reveal that his eyes were, “His father’s eyes”.Put his job on the line just based on his gut instinct. Here's a tip: hire someone else from the get-go so that you can keep your job, get the dirt on Ryan and not attract the wrong attention. Abbie Collier is hopelessly in love with her boyfriend Ryan Wilson and the happy couple plan to marry. But there's a problem - Abbie's father, Ed, doesn't like the suave, sophisticated Ryan and suspects him of hiding something, although mother, Claire, supports her daughter's choice and thinks he's a good catch. Desperate to prevent Abbie from marrying the wrong man, Ed digs into Ryan's past and in doing so he alienates his wife and daughter. But maybe Ed has other reasons for mistrusting his future son-in-law. Ed is now determined to discover and expose who the real Ryan is. Yes, he may have disliked Abbie’s other boyfriends in the past. I mean, no one is really good enough for Ed’s daughter. But this time it’s different. This time Ed sees true evil behind Ryan’s eyes!

Seeing Ed's slow obsession really sets up the first half of the novel, his adamant that theres something not quite right with Ryan leads him into some awkward situations! From Projector Pictures, the psychological thriller is based on The Sunday Times Bestselling author T.M. Logan’s novel of the same name. Throughout The Catch there was no point where I thought 'aha! I know what's going off here!' I couldn't fathom whether Ryan was a bad guy or whether Ed was losing the plot. I didn't know who, or even if there was a villain. I am a great fan of T.M. Logan having read Lies, The Holiday and I was equally thrilled with The Catch. I loved everything about this book - the story-line, the characters and all of the many twists and turns. The Catch , my fourth book, tells the story of a father who becomes convinced his daughter is about to marry a man with terrible secrets. It has also been made into a four-part TV drama currently on Netflix and starring Jason Watkins, Poppy Gilbert, Aneurin Barnard and Cathy Belton.
