Enhanced by material of this quality, Hatful Of Hollow was rightly hailed as an important milestone, with a later BBC retrospective rightly noting that it marked “the point where even the doubters began to really believe the hype surrounding the band”. Hatful of Hollow Class T-Shirt: Silky and soft "Triblend" single jersey. The Smiths 'Hatful of Hollow' T-Shirt. 1983 photo taken by Gilles Decroix for Liberation french magazine of a Reel Around the Fountain" has duller-sounding drums and acoustic guitars than the version on The Smiths. The bass is more prominent, but the piano and organ parts are not included. It is also in a higher key than the version on The Smiths. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term.

Hatful of Hollow also features the band's debut single, " Hand in Glove", and their two most recent singles prior to the album's release, " Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" and " William, It Was Really Nothing", along with their respective B-sides, "Girl Afraid", " How Soon Is Now?" and " Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want". The instrumentation is great but the vocals. Morrissey has some majestic voice and that's one of the main reasons I love The Smiths. The music is so meticulously crafted around Morrissey's voice. This has some of The Smiths best music ever and although Morrissey is a piece of shit this music is so good.In addition, the original single version of "Hand in Glove" is included, not the remixed version that appears on The Smiths. It features a fade- intro and fade-out, louder bass, and vocals that sound very distant. Early Smiths release, containing material recorded for several BBC radio sessions as well as other stuff. The current sleeve for Hatful of Hollow is the CD issue sleeve, featuring a cropped photograph of the otherwise unknown Fabrice Colette taken by Gilles Decroix. The original sleeve, pictured above, included a tattoo of a Jean Cocteau drawing on Colette's left shoulder, which Colette commissioned in June 1983 because he idolised Cocteau. The photograph is taken from a July 1983 special edition of the French newspaper Libération. [13] Additionally, the old cover had a large sky-blue frame with the legends "The Smiths" and "Hatful of Hollow" above and underneath the picture. Editions after 1987 feature the cropped version with the text superimposed, although the 2011 vinyl re-issue reinstated the original sleeve. My only gripe is that the disc came in a paper sleeve, which meant it was scuffed and a bit dirty. A dry brush helped though and there are no audible or other defects. melancholic, LGBT, male vocalist, melodic, lonely, introspective, bittersweet, romantic, sentimental, poetic, existential, passionate, sarcastic, quirky, energetic, longing, depressive, alienation, love, sad, atmospheric While this isn't necessarily an album but more of a compilation, it still feels like an album.
