Rolling Stone astutely described Adrenalize as “a seemingly unending string of energetic, hook-heavy songs about girls”, and after “Let’s Get Rocked” powered up to No. At the same time this was also issued in Japan (no picture disc) along with a Mega Edition featuring these two tracks on CD1 and the 'In The Clubs-In Your Face' Live E. The song received radio airplay and was performed by the band live at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.

The "deluxe edition" will feature deluxe digi--pack gatefold packaging with expanded booklets containing rare and previously unseen photographs, comprehensive sleeve-notes telling the story behind the album and includes images of rare single covers and memorabilia from the period. Accordingly, Collen felt Clark’s loss especially deeply when he shouldered the burden of playing all the guitars on Adrenalize. Thus, the heart of the song is its melodic development, the way Joe Elliott’s vocal builds from the breathy, low-key opening verse to the soaring, full-throated harmonies of the chorus. White Lightning" is dedicated to the memory of Clark, [7] who has writing credits on six of the album's ten tracks.

Indeed, the album would go on to sell more than seven million copies worldwide, remaining Def Leppard's last studio album to achieve major mainstream success.

Yet, after Allen courageously mastered a customized kit, Leppard played on, with Hysteria living up to its name, selling a whopping 25 million copies worldwide and spawning no less than seven hit singles. The album featured huge singles such as "Let’s Get Rocked" and "Make Love Like A Man" and debuted at No 1 in both the UK and USA (and went on to sell over 7 million copies). Yet the Leps work these gimmicks in so gracefully that they never interrupt the music’s flow, acting not as unnecessary contrivances but simply as another level of hook. In fairness, the band’s tardiness isn’t entirely the product of foot dragging, as the death of guitarist Steve Clark undoubtedly slowed this album (and doubled fellow guitarist Phil Collen’s workload) even more than the loss of drummer Rick Allen’s arm complicated the completion of Hysteria. No mean feat for a hard rock/metal album released while grunge superstars such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam were at the height of their fame. It's like with Pink Floyd: to me, Adrenalize was our Wish You Were Here and Hysteria was our Dark Side of the Moon. The album followed on from the tragedy in 1991 of Steve Clark's death and was finished off as a tribute to his memory. Because truth be told, it’s far easier to prop up several couplets of self-revelation with a few heavy-metal riffs than it is to turn an idea as commonplace as romantic desire into a song as memorable as “Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad.
