The manor doesn’t belong to us anymore, Clara dear,” Mrs. Coleman says. “We can’t simply ask to stay somewhere uninvited.” He means his rakish reputation. Everyone knows the prince is nothing but a rogue. I’ve heard the rumors about his many lovers, how he breaks hearts with hardly a care. I never gave these sensational tales much weight before, but now… My shoulders heave with rage. The sensible part of me screams to swallow my pride and simply walk away. But another part—and I have no doubt it’s my fae side—refuses to be silenced.

h (heroine) rating: 4 stars. Anna. I liked her. I appreciated how she pushed against the expected and did what made her happy and what was right. Raven shifter Prince Franco is every social climbing debutante’s dream. He’s handsome, heir to the Lunar Court throne, and deliciously single. Every young woman wants to bed him, wed him, or steal a moment of his time. Except, of course, for Ember Montgomery.I do not want to forget Mr. Felix Hopple, though. My oh my, he was a rather amusing secondary character as well. I don't want to give away too much and of course I don't want to spoil your reading experience. That's why my synopsis will be super short. Suffice to say that Edward de Raaf, the fifth Earl of Swartingham, meets Anna Wren while falling off his gelding--oh, please excuse me, Edward--you did not fall off, you were unseated. *cheeky smile* Shortly afterwards, Edward is in dire need of a new secretary and guess what? Plain Anna-- small morsel dressed in brown, her hair hidden by a god-awful frilled cap--gets the job. If you want to know more about these two and why Edward was aroused by a frumpy woman with an outstanding mouth he didn't even know, then you have no other choice than to read The Raven Prince. I guarantee you it's totally worth your time and money. Enjoy! There's a bit of a Beauty and the Beast element to this book, because the Earl is terribly scarred all over because of small pox. I was wondering why this sounded so familiar, and then it occurred to me that I had read a book with the same trope earlier this month: Tessa Dare's THE DUCHESS DEAL, except in the case of the duke in that story, the result of the scarring was fire from explosives. Anna is attracted to the Earl but her late husband cheated on her, so she doesn't want to jump into anything with another man because she is so damaged emotionally. #notallmen This was MUCH better than the first book. If you're looking for a swoony romantic slow burn Cinderella retelling this is it! All in all, an utterly fabulous book - terrific cast of characters, great romance, and several scenes that had me literally laughing out loud, which I realized I hadn't done in some time with an HR. Cannot wait to read the rest of the series! Lord Iddesleigh was hysterical and I'm especially excited for his story.

I’d hate to find out. Come on. Your glamours make life so much more interesting.” My words are more than just flattery. While most fae are capable of conjuring glamours, myself included, we are limited by our own particular strengths and imaginations. Flora’s creations are artistic marvels unparalleled by the capabilities of the average fae. She has the distinct talent of connecting a glamour to an object. I don’t know any other glamourist who can do that. And where most fae glamours are nothing more than illusions, hers take physical form, forging with its wearer. But why did we have to come here?” Clara asks. “Couldn’t we have entered the Lunar social season in a different city? One where we could live somewhere nicer than the Gray Quarter? Or couldn’t we have asked to stay at the manor?” I loved this everything about this book. It's going on my favourites shelf - where I keep the books that I re-read and love most of all. There is something about it that enables me to lose myself in the story, feel the attraction, feel the tension between them, fall in love with Edward and wish I was Anna. One of my favourite scenes is one where Edward has bet Anna that she can't make his dog answer to a name she has just given it, and the forfeit is a kiss:

This takes place in the same world as the Fair Isle Trilogy, and AFTER those books. It also comes AFTER The Curse of the Wolf King (the same series as this book). This book has a main character (the prince) that was a secondary but significant character in the Fair Isle Trilogy (books 2&3). The characters are also discussing the main characters and plot details from The Curse of the Wolf King, which are spoilers for those that also want to read that book.
