Description

The McMasters Conservatory is a secretly located college, where you can go to learn the various arts needed to carry out murder, but only if your intended victim is someone that the world will be a better place without! It follows 1 main character and 2 other potential murderers as they take their courses and learn how to correct past mistakes. The weird part is that a lot of his story is presented as journal entries addressing the anonymous sponsor who made his studies at McMasters possible.

In the middle I had to remind myself that just like in the song ‘Escape’ there had to be another twist in each story. By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file.

My only "hmm" was the almost immediate acceptance of non-US characters of the nature and teaching methods employed by a US-style university-level institution, but that's not a major issue.

Edgar winner Holmes ( Swing) frames this cheeky 1950s-set crime novel as a self-study guide for those who can’t afford tuition to the McMasters Conservatory for the Applied Arts, a “finishing school for finishing people off” whose location is kept secret from even those enrolled. This moral caveat is in odd contrast with the attitude on casual killing the students have to cope with in the Academy. With dry humor and an eye for hidden clues, Rupert Holmes imagines a secret Hogwarts-like school that teaches the fine art of pulling off the perfect (and perfectly deserved) murder. The schemes all three would-be employer deletists come up with are that level of complicated, and of course a good chunk of it is not explained until later (in some cases with more detail than others, but you can probably fill in most missing blanks if you’ve been paying attention). A devilish thriller with a killer concept: The McMasters Conservatory for the Applied Arts, a luxurious, clandestine college dedicated to the fine art of murder where earnest students study how best to “delete” their most deserving victim.

One final point: another reviewer thought one of the plotlines may be homophobic and asked for comments from someone from the LGBT community.Whether you're a collector yourself or just need that memorable gift for someone to cherish the rest of their lives, it's highly likely that you can find it here!

I read that the people who designed the stuff, they took a thousand model airplane kits and just glued tons and tons, thousands of little details onto the hull so that as you go in and in you keep seeing more detail and more detail and you thought, 'Well, this must be real. Pure dedication to the execution of the homicidal arts leaves many at McMasters eager to show their wares, though it is patience and planning that come before any murder takes place.

and where one's mandatory graduation thesis is getting away with the perfect murder of someone whose death will make the world a much better place to live. This Conservatory, where you can learn all about drowning, poison, combat, and much more, is in a secret location.
