I remember that in the last years of their lives, my wife and my aunt could only use a Jitterbug phone.

In terms of call quality, each of my phone calls came in crisp and clear. Even while wearing hearing aids, I noticed a clarity to each of my phone calls. Additionally, browsing the internet was a breeze with the Smart4’s large touch screen. The camera is surprisingly decent, considering it's only a 2-megapixel sensor. It takes clear, reasonably detailed pictures in well-lit environments, though in lower light settings images become muddy. Digital zoom is available in a separate Magnifier app, and allows for 5x zoom.Video: Video recording and video chats are other possibilities. While some seniors might have limited mobility, other senses can remain active. Anything that provides stimulation is usually considered beneficial. Unlike most cellular providers, all three of Lively’s phone plans include unlimited talk and text. The primary differences between these plans will be the extra wellness features and, in the case of the Smart3 and Smart4, data plans. The camera is surprisingly decent, considering it's only a 2-megapixel sensor. It takes clear, reasonably detailed pictures in well-lit environments, though in lower-light settings images become muddy. Digital zoom is available in a separate Magnifier app, and allows for 5x zoom. Remember, despite the Smart4’s simplified design, it’s a fully featured Android phone. This means that it can use any app available on the Google Play Store, including Facebook, Google Maps, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Gmail, among others. Using the Jitterbug Smart4 to watch TheSeniorList's YouTube channel. As those screen sizes and resolutions suggest, these displays aren’t for reading documents or maps, they’re for large and easy to read options, such as keying in a phone number or reading the time.

This is an interestingly different approach to a medical alert. This product is a “senior friendly” cell phone, but it has a button which lets you call the medical alert monitoring service (called 5 star) which is provided by the manufacturer (Lively — previously called GreatCall). To make or receive a call you simply flip open the phone, and you are ready to talk or dial, it’s very straightforward and somewhat reminiscent of a phone from the ‘feature phone’ era rather than a modern smartphone. In this case, the Jitterbug Flip was once an Alcatel OneTouch, that has also been sold as the Alcatel Go for those who got one from Sprint or T-Mobile.The most noteworthy difference between the two phones is battery life. The Smart3 has a battery capacity of 3500 milliampere hours while the Smart4 has 5000 milliampere hours. This translates to the Smart4 having a battery that lasts roughly fifty percent longer, which was noticeable in our tests. GreatCall also offers a simplified smartphone, the Jitterbug Smart2. But while the Jitterbug Flip is a nearly perfect marriage of form and function, the Smart2 is sluggish and feels like it's biting off a bit more than it can chew. The Flip is the phone to get if you're looking for those GreatCall health services. However, what they didn’t put on the screen in this design is the 5Star button, which is placed directly below the numeric pad and coloured red for easy identification.
