We set up our test fridge-freezers in an environmental chamber kept at 18-19 oC to imitate an average UK kitchen. We run the unit for several days, opening each compartment six times per day. You can dispense chilled water straight from the fridge door with the non-plumbed water dispenser, this is fed from a water tank inside the fridge, which you manually fill. The top freezer drawers with their open front took a little while to get used to. The jury was out on their practicality at first, as you’d clearly be able to stuff more in them if they had full fronts like traditional drawers. We measured just 39dB on average, with an occasional peak to 40-41dB. In the three-hour fail test the RQ560N4WC1 once again delivered an excellent result for a relatively affordable four-door appliance. The left-hand freezer crept up around 6 oC over the three hours, so easily freezer-safe (food not getting exposed to air temperature above 0 oC) for comfortably more than 12 hours of power outage. Only the top shelf struggled to remain as stable as the rest of the fridge compartment, with short-term peaks up to 7 oC and chilling that dipped as low as -2 oC, albeit for just a few minutes. This could potentially cause mild frost damage to soft fruits, but since most people tend to store bottles and jars up there, it’s unlikely to be a big issue.From the internal LED display you can set the temperature of the fridge and freezer as well as setting different options, such as fast chill and fast freeze, which will cool your food down rapidly, so it better retains its nutrients and taste.

As with all fridges, if you have a hot kitchen or a family that are accessing the fridge and freezer all day long, these figures will climb significantly.
