This was a mix so giddy, creative, genre-blurring and downright fun that it could only be considered equal to a full-length album - which is exactly what happened, tallying Album of the Year and Album of the Decade accolades from the likes of The New York Times, Spin, The Face, Pitchfork and more, and shifting over half a million copies globally. Of course, this compilation was but the very beginning of a journey for the duo and the Deewee label. In 2002, after a string of creative broadcasts on radio while still known primarily as a rock band, they released As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt.

That is this album's great strength, the ability to blend together some fantastic (really) old school songs with newer ones. With a foothold each in the worlds of indie rock and dance, there’s perhaps no better beachhead into the early aughts than this work from the Dewaele brothers. In the first two decades of the 21st century, few have controlled the cultural weather quite like Stephen and David Dewaele.

This is quite possibly the ultimate party soundtrack with something for everyone and the emphasis firmly on fun. Before listening to this album I wouldn't have said I was a fan of this type of music, but after listening to this I've discovered a whole new genre! From Salt 'N' Pepa's "Push It" cut up with the Stooges' "No Fun", to Destiny's Child's "Independent Woman" over 10cc's "Dreadlock Holiday", blending seamlessly into Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five", the tracklisting may look like someone's idea of a joke, but somehow it works.Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head (Soulwax Elektronic Remix) is listed as track -1 on the inner gatefold, but does not appear on this release. You could easily trace the emergence of mashup culture back to this - and in truth further back, but this really demonstrated how well some tunes so diverse can so easily meld together. The mastering is good, but Disc A had a 1cm area of scratches/blemish that looked awful and made surface noise. Despite their clever moniker, 2 Many DJs is just two guys with a digital mixer and a box full of tracks that you'd never think to mix together.

Due to inventory and accounting purposes, we do not exchange items received for different items than originally purchased. This was the album that introduced me to Soulwax, and still gets more plays than any of their other albums. Capturing that youthful energy and hitting us with hit after hit presented in the most unusual and infectious ways.

Whether that’s my own ignorance, turning my back on my teenage dreams as I matured into adulthood or, as it happens, it’s actually quite rare! It was also released under the name Terranova on Terranova - Hitchhiking Nonstop With No Particular Destination. It isn't as simple as slapping a beat onto the music and speeding it up, actual thought goes into the process which allows an organic feel to permeate their work.
