Going much further into the storyline would be spoiling too much, but let me tell you, it's not like anything you could expect. Somehow, in the course of sixty seconds, this guy has managed to swoon me, then terrify the hell out of me. While the media are often open slather on a lot of folk, those tirades are not particularly directed towards innocent children who didn’t know what they were witnessing, nor could they have particularly done anything about it at the time. The fact that while a fictional story, this story has happened to people in our world (with likely some slightly different details) is simply traumatizing in itself.It was very disturbing finding out that her biological father raped her and that he was also the cause of Leslie’s death. But still that's not enough: we have a hero who carries all the guilt of the universe on his shoulders, witness the kidnapping of the heroine, learn about the rape of the heroin and his twin. Sky has been homeschooled all the way up until her senior year when she insists on enrolling at the local public school, just to experience it. However, as he begins to uncover the truth about his own past, he realizes that he may have a chance to win Sky back. I felt laughter coming out of me when her friends were being lovely and silly and when she sent the wrong text, when she blurted out stuff randomly, and at so many other things.

Sky, a senior in high school, meets Dean Holder, a guy with a promiscuous reputation that rivals her own. With just a touch of bad boy, lickable dimples, a crooked smile and a tattoo, this moody, mysterious and endearing hot guy with a temper just utterly stole my heart.

But this love has conditions: they agree it will last only one hour, and it will be only make-believe. I feel the bed shift and he encompasses my wrist with his hand and removes my arm from over my eyes.

I've gone so long trying to find ways to feel numb any chance I get, but seeing the enthusiasm behind his eyes right now. Though Sky is determined to stay far away from him, his unwavering pursuit and enigmatic smile break down her defences. I get the feeling that the author wanted to treat us to an atypical protagonist who is somewhat sexually promiscuous, as opposed to the usual blushing virgin (well done! I couldn't for one second put it down while I was reading it (expect when absolutely necessary off course, but even then the story continued to live on inside my head).

It picked up during the second half when finally, some revelation came and that was the time when I felt so relieved and was able to breathe because. One aspect I did see coming was the part with the kidnapping being because her mom was raped by her father; when the dad explains that he did it to his sister I kept thinking, “she’s the sister! The second chapter opens with “2 months earlier”, and the reader is taken through how Sky reaches the point she is at in the first chapter. I learnt that sometimes the most simple questions are the ones that are most difficult to answer in life. When she starts at the high school (without Six- who ends up doing foreign exchange) She has a bit of a rough start, and develops a bit of a reputation due to some of her flavors of the week that go to school there.

Half way through the hopeless series and I’m having the worst book hangover, absolutely loved hopeless and finding hope.
