This year’s event is set to feature 10 terrifying zones, including four brand-new indoor mazes with hordes of live actors, horrifyingly realistic set design, and more than a few things going ‘bump’ in the night. With zones being announced on social media, attendees are getting a glimpse at what they can expect for the fourth year of Scare City. The iconic theme park will open its doors for the first time in years in February as an apocalypse experience takes over its Chorley grounds, teeming with zombies and monsters. The Grotto can be found on Lower Peel Avenue, near the Dolphin Fountain. ‘Whispering Winter’ inclusive sessions are also available for those families who prefer a more relaxed experience.

Unfortunately it seems likely that we will never know for sure whether Camelot actually existed, and if it did exist, where it was situated. However the legend of King Arthur and his Camelot lives on, as popular as ever.

In his “ Historia Regum Britannae” Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote that Arthur was born in Cornwall at Tintagel Castle. Indeed a 1,500 year old piece of slate with two Latin inscriptions was found at Tintagel in the late 1980s, which would seem to link Arthur with Tintagel. The second inscription on the slate reads ” Artognou, father of a descendant of Coll, has had [this] made.” King Coel (Old King Cole of the nursery rhyme) is said by Geoffrey of Monmouth to be one of Arthur’s ancestors. Chrétien de Troyes and author Geoffrey of Monmouth believed Camelot may have been located in Wales, in Caerleon. Since Arthur was considered to be a Romano-Briton and the Welsh are direct descents of the Romano-British, this may add plausibility to the Caerleon claim. Another Welsh contender for the location of Camelot is the fictitious town of Carduel, which was based on the town of Carlisle. Perhaps a clue to its possible location might be found in the sources we have for the legend of King Arthur. Did he exist and if so, who was he? Was he perhaps a Romano-Celtic leader defending his lands from Anglo-Saxon invaders? Camelot is a fictional, castled city in the Kingdom of Logres ruled by King Arthur. Believed to be located in Great Britain, it is the home of the legendary round table in the Arthurian legends. The city of Camelot is described in romantic literature as being situated next to a river and surrounded by forests and fields.
