I know a fair bit about mites, but dont know a great deal about springtails. I do know they are not predatory, but do eat "organic matter" - so my assumption is in absence of a food source within the enclosures (other than snake waste), they have been feeding on the mite eggs that have been laid around the enclosures. Snake mites rarely lay their eggs on the snake themselves, and opt for areas within the enclosure - if they have been eating them, this explains the break in the cycle of the mites, and the boom in population numbers of the springstails.

The Taurrus mites will last around 4 weeks, and repeat applications may be required for large infestations. Taurrus can be applied on a regular basis as a preventative treatment if applying small amounts every 4/5 weeks. Once all Snake Mites have been consumed Taurrus will naturally die out.
