But for now, two bonus pieces, a theatrical trailer and a "more from A24" piece is all there is, folks. Pearl is a marvelously crafted piece of horror from a brilliant filmmaker that wows viewers with impressive visuals while, at the same time, taking us to the brink with some of the nastiest horror this side of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film look and tone really does live up to the stirrings of our childhood imagination, just like when we first experienced the ride, yet it also finds a perfect balance between that whimsy and a darker, more adult sensibility. Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother.

Skin tones remain accurate throughout, and some of the darker scenes have a nice greeny-blue tinge that gives the movie that classic period feel.

Running 12 minutes, it’s a more in-depth look at the making of the film with candid comments from West as well as star Mia Goth.

In X Pearl acts strangely and murders the group of young people staying at the farm while filming a pornographic movie.I liked the dynamic with her mother, the relation with the guy from the movie theater, even some moments, but it just didn't amount to much. While the story may take place in 1918 pre-dating Hollywood’s golden decade of the 1930s, it pulls from that era’s view of simple Americana living.
