Description

Most 4G and 5G home broadband routers will allow you to connect an external antenna. However, this functionality isn’t available on some devices like the Huawei AI Cube B900. It also isn’t possible to use an antenna with most Mi-Fi devices like the Huawei E5573bs-322. An external antenna can help to improve the speed and reliability of your 4G or 5G home broadband connection.

You don’t always get unlimited data with this device – there are a range of plans, including pay as you go contracts. The main downside to this MiFi device is it’s normally more expensive than a 4G Hub, and it can’t connect as many devices to the internet at once. This means that getting home broadband set up with the 4G Plus Hub is very easy – you just need to insert the SIM card, attach the antennas, plug it in, and turn it on. You don’t need an engineer to visit your house, and you don’t need to worry about paying for home phone line rental. However, the Three 4G Plus Hub does have the edge here, as it supports a Three 4G Plus Hub app (available on both Google Play and the App Store). At this stage, the 4G Plus Hub will take a little while to start up. When the 4G signal light is green, you’re ready to get online. If you’re looking for something more portable to get online with when travelling, take a look at the Three 4G MiFi device. If you’re using an external outdoor antenna, it will normally come bundled with a cable which plugs in to your router. It’s best to choose the shortest possible length of cable for your installation. A cable that’s longer than necessary will cause a reduction in signal strength. We should note, we live in an area with very good 4G signal, near a 4G mast. You may not see speeds quite as fast as the maximums we were able to achieve with your Three 4G Hub. In some cases, you might not be able to get 4G home broadband, even if you’re within the 4G coverage area as shown on Three’s 4G coverage map. If this is the case, you’ll be shown the following message: Plus, you can also use the 4G Hub on the go, if you’d like. You can use this 4G router to get online anywhere in the UK, including while you’re on holiday, which is great. It’s arguably the better and more modern looking of the two gadgets in fact, despite its larger size. Though neither is exactly an eyesore, with the standard model curving outwards towards the bottom and having a blue central section, which makes it a bit more visually interesting than it might otherwise be. Setup

In this article, we’ll discuss external antennas for 4G and 5G home broadband, how you can choose one and how it can help with the speed of your connection. Key Considerations Once we set up our 4G Hub router, we tried it in three different locations around the house, to find which place had the best 4G signal.

Three 4G Hub overview

It is important to note though, your latency will most likely be higher using a 4G broadband router than if you were using a regular home broadband connection. And to get the best possible ping, we recommend always using an Ethernet cable to connect your computer or games console to the router, otherwise your latency may be less consistent. Hi - apologies for repeating myself, I replied to another similar message and now can’t find the post 🙄! One of the great things about such gadgets is that you don’t need a landline or an engineer visit, and they’re typically – as in these cases – little more complex than just plugging them in and switching them on. In the UK, Three’s 4G Plus Hub is their most advanced 4G home broadband router. Also known as the Sercomm LTE2122GR, the 4G Plus Hub will connect to Three’s 4G mobile network. From it, it will produce a regular Wi-Fi network that your other devices are able to connect to. Can result in a less stable connection. The mast you’re using could be overloaded or down for maintenance.

There’s no need to have a landline if you’re using 4G home broadband. For this reason, you might be able to cancel your landline service if you don’t need it for another reason (e.g. for making phone calls).Using the 4G Hub plugged into a computer using the provided Ethernet cable, the best speed test result we were able to get was: To get set up, all you need to do is put the SIM card into the router, plug it in, and turn it on. You don’t need to wait for an engineer to come and visit to get started, like you might do with a traditional broadband provider. Essentially, the 4G Plus Hub works well for gaming, especially if you can connect your computer or games console using an Ethernet cable. However, the ping is a bit higher than what you’d get with fibre broadband, most of the time. You can also use the 4G Plus Hub to get online almost anywhere in the UK, as long as you have 4G signal.
