On The Furchester Hotel, Gonger initially served a minor role in the first season, banging his gong to alert everyone of "Monster Tea Time," particularly the Tea Time Monsters. In the second season of the show, Gonger's role was expanded to hotel chef, where he still is able to bang his gong for tea time from the kitchen. Gonger is a small pink monster who first appeared on The Furchester Hotel and later joined the cast of Sesame Street in season 48.
