Description

This is a highly comprehensive book that covers climbing techniques, training, injury prevention, and tactics. Personally, I would have preferred the author to delve deeper into the technique chapters, while being more concise in the training and tactic chapters. However, this is probably because I am new to climbing and have not yet begun my training. Martin Mobråten has a master’s degree in civil engineering, has climbed for over 20 years, been an athlete on the Norwegian national team and is a former Nordic champion in climbing. He has climbed extensively outdoors and has redpointed several routes graded F8c+ and boulder problems up to Font 8c. Martin has coached the Norwegian Climbing Federation’s youth recruits and many of the stronger juniors in the Trondheim community for the past ten years. Martin works daily with climbing courses, route setting and facilitating climbing both indoors and outdoors. The physical training includes plenty of exercises that can be done at home with minimal equipment – surprisingly useful this year! I manage to injure myself fairly regularly climbing and haven’t really known where to start with conditioning and injury prevention exercises, but the section on this is really clear and has given me several things to start trying that I can do at home. Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will cross over to the men and reveal ourselves to them. If they say to us, ‘Wait until we come to you’; then we will stand in our place and not go up to them. But if they say, ‘Come up to us,’ then we will go up, for the Lord has given them into our hands; and this shall be the sign to us.” read more.

We started our climbing careers together twenty-five years ago and have been through our own personal evolution as climbers as well as observing others going through the same process. Why are we still in love with this sport? What have we done right and wrong in our own careers, and what have we done right and wrong while coaching others? Why do some people turn to sport and competition climbing where others go in other directions of the sport? And, most importantly; why do some people never stop climbing? Policía y política: Una interpelación acerca de las relaciones históricas y sociológicas entre la policía, el poder político, la sociedad y el delito More and more people around the world are discovering how great climbing is, both indoors and outdoors. The Climbing Bible by internationally renowned climbers and coaches Martin Mobråten and Stian Christophersen is a comprehensive guide to help you train effectively to become a better climber. The presentation looks great, but I am in the dark on its content. The book seems relatively beginner oriented, and I was wondering how it compares to e.g. 9 out of 10 and other books.

Featuring over 200 photos, the Climbing Bible boasts insights from the authors' Martin Mobråten Stian and Christophersen Bjørn Sætnan and other top-flight climbers, alongside a section for children and young crushers. Alongside the text there is a great number of photographs to supplement the text you so you cn really see in detail the techniques in detail. Also some great shots from around the world of climbers out and about good for building up your general psyche.

The Climbing Bible by Martin Mobråten, Stian Christophersen

This is a very substantial book on the technical, physical and mental tactics to become a better climber. The Climbing Bible by Martin Mobråten and Stian Christophers en is a comprehensive guide to help you train effectively to become a better climber. Illustrated with 400 technique and action photos, and features stories from top climbers as well as a foreword by Jo Nesbø. When we wrote the book with the humble title The Climbing Bible, our editor claimed it mandatory to include ‘The Ten Commandments of Climbing’. Obviously, these are neither religiously binding nor absolutes, but what might have started out as a bit of a laugh actually turned out to be a good exercise to reflect what we saw as key elements to progress as climbers. You can read all ten commandments in the book, but we want to elaborate a bit on some of the most fundamental ones here.

The Climbing Bible - Needle Sports Ltd

This is possibly the most comprehensive and insightful book you will read on suffering and the motivation behind it. It explores the characters and their lives in raw details, it leaves you with an appreciation for their contribution to winter mountaineering. A friend of ours once said: “Your technique today is inversely proportional to your strength when you started climbing”. Even us climbers are only human; we tend to favour what we’re good at. The explosion of climbing gyms around the world provides the opportunity to climb a lot on jugs and utilize arm and upper body strength. But what happens when the difficulty increases? The holds become worse, the body positions more strenuous and the movements more complex. We can’t any longer rely solely on our pulling power because the holds and body positions don’t allow us to merely pull harder to succeed. If you are just a climber wanting to perfect your game, or a parent or coach who wants a trusted text to refer to in your child or students learning, Vertebrate publishing's The Climbing Bible: Practical Exercises is a book to live and climb by. Technique, training programs, types of routes and it looks perfect to place in the living-room and start conversations.

The Climbing Bible: Practical Exercises by Martin Mobraten

As a climber with 25+ years experience, it's all too easy to become complacent and forget about training and technique. Yet I still do! But it is such an integral part of being a climber, in some form we all need training and to do so without input is far more challenging. This comprehensive book covers so much in accessible detail, and best of all with loads of great photos to help visualisation. This might seem obvious, but with climbing evolving more and more into the realm of sport it’s worth highlighting. You can find lots of information on how to train the physical aspects of climbing, but nothing really comes close to climbing a lot on different walls, crags, styles, angles and holds. All of these will present you with their own particular challenges on how to move, weight your feet and position your body. Going to the same gym, on your favourite wall, using your favourite holds and doing your perfectly designed strength program can never give you the same diversity as doing a lot of climbing in different places. And this diversity will build your ability to solve the puzzle which is moving between holds to find the tops you’re looking for. Commandment 3: Train technique before physical training

The authors, as well as being strong climbers themselves, are both coaches at an international level, with a deep and long-gathered knowledge of the best training methods. Due to their 20 years of experience and research, the Climbing Bible: Practical Exercises is an extensive exercise library, and now it's all available to you. With its first section that focuses on technique grip positions, balance, direction of force, and dynamics, the Climbing Bible: Practical Exercises starts with the foundations and basics and lends a hand through your climbing development with exercises to help you train strength and power, with wall exercises, finger strength exercises and beam exercises, arm exercises and more. The Climbing Bible will help and motivate you to improve and develop as a climber and find even more joy in this fantastic sport. The name says it all, The Climbing Bible: Practical Exercises is a collection of exercises that have been collated to help you develop your climbing technique and strength.
