All texts will be responded to by a public health nurse (health visitor/school nurse) within 24 hours. We listened to what dads, their partners and professionals asked for and combined it all in this new DadPad for dads-to-be. For this reason, the app also provides information on key behavioural changes for dad to look out for in both himself and his partner. This easy-to-use resource for new dads and dads-to-be will give you the practical skills and knowledge you need to create a special bond with your baby and give them the best start in life. Once the app is installed, enter your postcode when prompted and select your local area or hospital.

By building confidence, helping dads engage with their baby’s development and be a supportive co-parent the DadPad can help children and families across the city. The DadPad’s aim is to provide new fathers with guidance on how to develop the mindset, confidence and practical skills needed to meet their babies’ physical and emotional needs. Crucially, the app also provides dads with guidance on how to support and seek help (when needed) for their partners and themselves as they adjust to their new roles, and cope with the physical and emotional strains that this can place on individuals and relationships. This will help us to ensure it’s a helpful resource, inform any changes and keep it up-to-date with what's important to local dads. Developed with the NHS, DadPad gives new dads and dads-to-be the knowledge and skills needed to gain confidence and give their baby the best start in life. The guide has been developed with the NHS and gives dads the confidence, knowledge and practical skills they need to look after their new born baby.

When dads across Cornwall were asked what would help them in their new role as a father, they asked for a ‘Dad Pad’.The DadPad is best utilised as early as possible during pregnancy, around birth and beyond, and provides guidance for babies and children up to the age of two. Traditionally, lots of information, advice and support is female-focused, but partners can feel equally unsure or overwhelmed.

The Dadpad® gives dads-to-be the knowledge and practical skills necessary to support themselves and their partner, so that babies get the best possible start in life. We’re also pleased to share that a co-parent pad has been developed to achieve fill inclusivity and offers a bespoke resource for the LGBTQIA+ community which we’re really excited about as well. We listened to what dads, their partners and health professionals asked for and combined it all in the DadPad. The Dad Pad - covering all the essential information dads told us they need to know and presented in a step-by-step, manual style so it’s easy to follow and understand. This will give you time to put your pack to good use and we’re sure you’ll have plenty to keep you busy before then!Devon County Council is responsible for the writing, publishing and updating of the content on this page. Stoke-on-Trent City Council has worked with the NHS Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust and DadPad to launch the easy-to-use, freely downloadable resource for new dads and dads-to-be. Having chosen to invest in including and engaging with dads-to-be, and wanting to encourage new dads to get involved and come forward with questions and issues they have throughout their partner’s pregnancy and beyond, the DadPad App is free to you. Rowena Chilton, Head of Midwifery at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, said: 'It’s fantastic news that DadPad has launched across our maternity services. An exciting new parenting resource is being re-launched across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in 2016.

Dadpad is also available in a hardcopy booklet versions, will shortly be available to support those who do not have access to DadPad digitally and will cover the main topics contained with the DadPad app. The DadPad gives support to new fathers who can often feel left out and unable to help when they’re needed most, and this can put a strain on both parents.

The DadPad was created because babies don’t come with a set of instructions, and dads told us they wanted important information on what to expect and how to care for their baby.
