DEBI GLIORI has illustrated many beloved picture books, including Joyce Dunbar's Tell Me Something Happy Before I Go to Sleep and Tell Me What It's Like to Be Big, along with her own No Matter What and Penguin Post. Large shows Small that love is there ‘no matter what’ in this robust board book edition of a classic picture book. Also, this book includes the issue of death and the possible death of a parent and this is something that any child would struggle with immensely and so it is great that there are books such as this one to remind children and help them with such difficult concepts and scenarios. After finding two abandoned presents, Santa Baby and Roo embark on a race against time to deliver the gifts. Debi Gliori is the author/illustrator of many books for children including Mr Bear, the winner of the Children's Book Award.

A reference to how stars still shine when they die is a lovely way to deal with this issue in a child friendly way. It is an endearing tale of a Mother Fox explaining to her baby fox just how much she loves him/her and that she always will. Small has all sorts of questions about love, and his mummy must reassure him that her love will never, ever run out – no matter what. This story is wonderful for young children and I have read it over and over to all three of my boys. The spine of the book has a small tear and one of the corners on the back looks a bit like the print didn’t make it all the way to the edge. As bedtime nears, a cute little fox named Small who's feeling "grim and grumpy" (and whose parent, Large, is pictured chatting on the phone) acts out by upturning the living room.

In fact we all loved the book so much that "No Matter What" is a phrase we all often use to this day.

Those same lines about death in the American version replaced by the question " And if you are far away, love disappears or remains?

It is perfect for all children whether they are just having a bad day and putting their feelings out there, or if they have deeper and more therapeutic requirements, and have experienced reasons not to trust love is always there. A wonderful story for parents to read with their children, where they canreassue they're own little ones that they will always love them. In this beautiful and lyrical picture book we see a clever and resourceful mother prove to her child that a parents love is limitless - no matter what! It's a lovely story to read before bed to make a young child feel safe and no that no matter what their large will love them.
