It can be a pain to set up in general and your phone may be spending quite a bit of time actually searching for the unit. So once it’s finally set up, I’d probably just not mess with it much. Elevator Pitch Review: The Arylic S10 is a tiny streamer with onboard DAC that costs very little. It works very well and doesn’t sound awful, but can sound quite harsh. Very basic onboard EQ mitigates this somewhat but it is still not great in a very resolving system. However, at the level the S10 is pitched there will be few people that will find cause for complaint. It also offers multi-room capability for those that want to buy several for around their home. I had device issues from the very start. I had stereo sound issues which turned out to be due to the application. A complete remove and re-install helped resolve this. But I also had major hissing and noise on both the speakers, but more prominently on the right channel. I ruled out other system components by actual testing other devices; it was the S10.

This will most certainly benefit those who are looking for a device that can contribute to their 2nd or 3rd setup – one that they may use when having company over, or for some much-needed rest and relaxation. Moving onward, I wanted to see if I could use it as a DAC for a separate amplifier, but I haven’t been successful thus far. Front Panel Compared to the S10, there is a big step up in every performance aspect. But here’s the rub – does it approach standards that are acceptable to serious hi-fi aficionados? The award I give this is heavily influenced by the very low cost of the unit but needs to be taken with caveats mentioned in the body of the review. AT A GLANCE We listened to more songs than those named in this playlist, but those are excellent for identifying a sonic signature. I recommend trying most of the songs from this playlist, especially if you’re searching for new music! The playlists are different for Spotify, Tidal and Youtube, and based on the songs I enjoy and are available on each!

Spec & Docs

Generally speaking, the AUX input does not sound as good as the Ethernet or the Wifi input. S10 supports inputs from Bluetooth 5.0, RJ45 Ethernet up to 100M, as well as Wireless signals from the 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz networks. The Bluetooth distance is quoted to be about 30 Meters, but I found it to be roughly 15 meters with no obstacles for a good , reliable signal. The SNR is 91dB, which on paper is actually pretty humble, paired with a THD of about 0.03%, which on paper also sounds pretty meager.

It is a multi-room device as well which means you can stream with multiple units connected in the same network. How it worksStill, it may be of use to a certain demographic of people and thus is still valuable to some degree. As an example, If you ever wanted to take a PC out of your audio chain, but you didn’t want to spend a pretty penny on upmarket streamers, Arylic S10 might be just the thing you’d want to consider. It’s not just a streamer either but it comes with integrated D/A converter. Build and Connectivity Errs towards being very bright which can become fatiguing. Very basic onboard EQ can mitigate this to an extent, but it’s not a perfect scenario After installing the apps on the relevant smart device and hooking up the Arylics to the audio component(s) of choice, the only small hurdle to cross is connecting them to the home network. There are a few easy ways to do this, and all are explained in the manual. Multiroom Audio System: Mix and match any combination of Arylic Streamers to create a custom multiroom system and play the same music throughout your home, send different sources to each room at the same time, or create your own custom-defined multiroom zones... All controlled via our 4stream App.

S10 is able to decide FLAC, Mp3, AAc, ALAC, APE and WAV, and up to 24bit / 192kHz signals, weighing in about 200 grams. The remote works pretty nicely, and you will need to use the 4 Stream app with it. I found the app to be pretty awful for me, since it is slow, and the UI is cluttered with useless options, pretty complicated to get what you need it to do, but also fairly bug-free compared to the majority of APPs for Streamers. Setting S10 up takes about 20 minutes and once it is set up, everything works fairly well. Well, that’s about it for today my friend! I hope you’ve enjoyed this Arylic S10 Review and came away with some valuable insight. On board, Mountain View DSP chip is used, which has an A/D section supports up to 24-bit / 192k music streaming in, and four D/A converters for up to 16-bit / 48k music out. Although not 24-bit / 192k level audio output, this is an important "upgrade" from Sonos speakers and is on-par with the popular Analog Devices ADAU1701 performance. The "hi-res" music files in my collection finally can be digitally streamed and processed. I haven't had a chance to connect, but I2S pins are provided on board for off-board DAC or I2S Amp. The sound quality from this streaming board as is, is satisfying relative to generic CD player, or Bluetooth streaming. The biggest value of this board is its multi-room synchronized audio capability, which applies to floor-stand 4-way speaker build as well.Arylic S10 vs Triangle AIO Connect (79 USD vs 150 USD) - We have two very different Streamers here today. The biggest difference is that while S10 cannot do any kind of digital output, AIO Connect has a really noisy analogue output and using it via its line out was almost impossible, the noise floor being generally very audible. This is why direct comparisons would be complicated, AIO has the advantage of using an external DAC which may be more potent than S10, but it also has a starting price of double that of S10, where S10 replaces the DAC in a system. I would recommend considering AIO Triangle as a Streamer for more expensive setups, and S10 for entry-level, bedroom, or bedside setups where having a simple DAC with a simple AMP or even active speakers is fun and feasible.

Generally speaking, the sound of the S10 is really clean, well balanced and fairly detailed for the price. The sound has a fair amount of soundstage width, a fair amount of depth, and if we consider that we're paying for it less than for the majority of dongles, the relative performance for the price is not just good but actually excellent. I noticed a pretty dynamic sound that's not compressed or distorted with S10, and volume is never a problem since you'll be using it with an external amplifier for volume control. you can use it to stream music from your favorite apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, etc. while also controlling the volume from the app on your phone. Consuming television content is straightforward. Music content, on the other hand, is not quite so as most will have the service’s streaming app on smart devices only. Headphones use aside, a Bluetooth connection is always possible, presuming the audio set-up has such connectivity. But what if the main music rig is not so digitally-enabled? That’s where devices like China-based Arylic’s S50 Pro and S10 wireless streaming preamps come to the fore. On the front, there are the Aux In, Network, Bluetooth, and USB lights which appear according to the source you’re using. when attempting to switch to Bluetooth from Wi-Fi, it’s a real pain and doesn’t want to cooperate very much.

However, I find it odd that it does not have any digital input (neither Toslink nor RCA). That, I find, is the biggest omission as the high-grade ESS Sabre DAC could have come in play when connected to any other digital source – not just from the Internet.
