Description

The midsole has respectable levels of stability and cushioning that is versatile enough for daily training or long runs.

The Adrenaline GTS 20 a decent stack height and drop (similar to the Ghost), but less than a traditional support shoe, and supports your body from the hips/knees down with Brooks' newest technology, instead of focusing on the ankle and arches. The Adrenaline GTS 20’s sole unit has undergone slight changes from the 19’s overhaul to retain the soft DNA LOFT crash pad in the mid-to-lateral heel, which now tapers forward to gradually transition into the familiar BioMoGo DNA foam supporting the rest of the shoe.

We found in our running that the shoes weren't too forceful in their gait assistance, allowing us to have a more natural experience while gently ushering us into form. When you're out on the road, you'll definitely catch a breeze in through the top of the toes, but that real estate is limited. Responsive BioMoGo DNA cushioning stacked above a soft DNA LOFT Crash Pad work together to provide a touch of spring underfoot while cushioning each footfall. The GTS 20 (and the 19) are devoid of a medial post – the firm wedge of foam that is commonly seen in motion-control or stability running shoes.Meanwhile, the plastic stabilizer (inspired by the Liberty) on the inner midsole is a happy compromise. If you're looking for an elegantly designed running shoe with excellent comfort that doesn't compromise performance, give this one a serious look. Those of us with overpronation (about 30% of runners) that has caused some nagging injuries or poor stride results will probably enjoy this fresh/minimalist approach to motion control. It is advisable to pop to your local running specialist and try on a few different brands, on the treadmill if possible, to get a feel for the shoes. Therefore, if you go from a pleasant walk to a spontaneous gym visit or run, you can tighten/loosen them quickly.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. There are a couple of full grooves along with a bridged one, so the midsole doesn’t bend every easily – which makes push-offs less of a chore. The smooth-transition design makes it feel lighter than it is, while it still sports the cushion and stable upper of a traditional heavy-duty distance shoe; the thin outsole will be the first to go.Given the narrow design of Brooks, I’m up a half size and so take extra care to tighten the laces toward the ball, or I get blisters from friction. The Transcend was the original GuideRail shoe, and it continues – albeit in a toned-down avatar – in the form of the cushioned and supportive Transcend 6. Thankfully they felt supportive enough and did not give me any pain or soreness in my feet as I usually get after using lightweight shoes for longer sessions. That's because its stability features, while effective, aren't overpowering or so rigid that they make you clumsy when you try to twist, flex, or pivot. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 is the best stability technology yet from Brooks, springy and solid responsive feel on the road, with equal plush cushioning than the Levitate or Ghost.

The Classic fit option combines a standard, durable, double-layer engineered mesh upper with traditional lacing and a moderately-plush tongue. This creates a sort of softness to the landing with enough resilience that it seems firm into toe-off. To paint a more concise picture, it was the best overall stability/supportive shoe of a dozen I have worn/tested, and a solid improvement on the Bedlam 2's use of GuideRails just this past year, which I reviewed as well. You can use it on the treadmills and flat trails too, but take note – running on muddy trails will clog the heavily grooved outsole.
