From the lovely village of Wetton a short distance away is the magnificent Thor’s Cave. Pictured above it might look small but it’s a huge cave that you can go inside and explore. The trail follows an old railway line over deep valleys to the south of Kirkby Stephen. The trail takes in impressive stone viaducts and gives visitors an insight into how important the Stainmore railway used to be and what an essential link it was between the coalfields of South Durham and the iron and steel industries in Lancashire and West Cumberland. Directions: Take the B6521 towards Calver. From A623 turn onto B6001 at Calver and then B6521 in Grindleford towards the station. Park at the station. First published in 2004, this is the third edition of Paul Besley's guide of over forty walks covered by the eastern sheet of Ordnance Survey White Peak map OL24. This means no folding, unfolding, flapping or tearing of the map to locate the routes.This is just a small selection of the woodland dog walks in the Peak District that you can explore with your dog.
