Other eggs: while a fried egg is traditional, not everyone is a fan of the yolk. Feel free to make scrambled eggs, instead. This week’s edition of Weekend Eggs, our 12-year-old series of recipes for quintessential egg dishes from around the world, was created with our British readers in mind, given the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II and today’s proclamation of a new monarch, King Charles III. It’s my take on a full English breakfast recipe for a very traditional British breakfast with a twist.

Alternatively, cook the large flat mushroom and/or the tomatoes in the oven. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C/Gas mark 6). Drizzle 2 teaspoons of olive oil over or add a pat (knob) of butter to the mushroom and season with salt and pepper before roasting for 12 to 15 minutes, until softened. If you are using the oven, begin roasting the mushroom and tomatoes a few minutes before frying the sausages and bacon. Once cooked, decrease the oven temperature to low for keeping everything warm as it is cooked. Step 6Tomato/es: for this version, I used an heirloom tomato. However, you can use a regular large tomato or even cherry tomatoes (on the vine). Move the mushrooms to one side of the pan. Then add the tomato to the pan and allow it to fry gently. This will continue to cook and soften while you prepare the remainder of the dish. Most home-cooks wouldn’t touch their baked beans, serving them as is, straight from the can, however, I like to add a very non-traditional addition of chilli powder to add a little warmth and flavour. I have some important tips to making my take on the full English breakfast recipe beginning with one of the key ingredients, baked beans. We recommend that you use Heinz baked beans for an authentic taste. Gee, do you really think it takes so many instructions to fry up some bacon, eggs, sausage and toast? You've turned breakfast into more work than a three course dinner.

Make ahead: in general, a British fry-up is best when prepared fresh, and most of the elements taste best when freshly cooked. However, if using homemade baked beans, these can be prepared in advance. You can also prepare sauteed mushrooms 3-4 days in advance and store them in an airtight container in the fridge. You can add both to the skillet to reheat (and in the case of the mushrooms, crisp up slightly again). Tea: while not on the plate (obviously), a Full English breakfast just wouldn’t be the same without a “cuppa.” I recommend English breakfast tea or Earl Grey. Otherwise, a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice is the perfect accompaniment to this easy vegetarian breakfast. If you’re an eggs lover and particularly a lover of breakfast eggs dishes, do dig into our Weekend Eggs archive (link above) for inspiration and ideas or browse our collections of our 21 best breakfast recipes and our all-time 12 most popular Weekend Eggs recipes in 12 years of Grantourismo, which we compiled as part of Grantourismo’s 12th birthday celebrations. Other traditional inclusions for a classic British fry-up are potatoes fried in bacon fat and bubble and squeak, which you could serve as sides. Made in the Dutch Oven lid my full English breakfast recipe makes enough for two, but if you’re feeding more, use the Dutch oven itself.

Why not take a look at our Tefal frying pans? And if you want to keep your cookware co-ordinated while ensuring you’ve got always got enough pans to hand, then it’s our excellent range of pan sets that you need to take a look at.

Potatoes: there are several ways to introduce potatoes into a full English breakfast. The most common is probably with hash browns. You could also add crispy pan-fried potatoes. Store: Once prepared, it’s best to enjoy this vegetarian full English breakfast immediately! Recipe Tips and FAQs Butter: I used butter to cook the various ingredients for more flavor. However, you could use neutral cooking oil if preferred, but butter is highly recommended. Use dairy-free butter for a vegan full English breakfast. For the best sauteed mushrooms: follow the tips that I’ve included in this sauteed mushrooms post for the best results every time! Condiments: you can’t have a traditional English breakfast without condiments – ketchup (I use homemade ketchup!) and brown sauce are most common.

Wordle Helper

Turn the heat down a little and continue to cook for another minute before placing the pan under the grill and finishing the eggs to your liking. Cook for a couple more minutes until the bacon is crisp and golden. Shake the pan and turn the bacon over. Now is the time to put a round of toast into the toaster. While there are lots of individual elements to a British fry up, I’ve simplified this recipe as much as possible. So much so that this recipe is for a one-pan vegetarian English breakfast. Just follow my “timing” for when to add the various ingredients, and you’ll end up with a delicious cooked vegetarian breakfast and no massive pile of dishes!
