Description

Toby Jones's character, Lance Slater, is a forklift driver and proud owner of a yellow Triumph TR7. His ex-wife Maggie (Lucy Benjamin) runs a New Age supplies shop and has a habit of disrupting Lance's life. Having landed a lucrative find and a seemingly happy ending in the concluding episode of season 3, fans of the show had thought they had seen the last of the pair.

Last Updated on November 21, 2021 by Stefanie Hutson Fans of the BBC comedy series Detectorists all seem to share one big complaint – that there isn't more of it. After our hopes were crushed when word came there wouldn't be any new episodes, we might have a new reason to be optimistic. What's Detectorists About? As for who would star in Detectorists season 4, it's likely that at least Crook and Jones would return – and we certainly hope we'd be seeing all the DMDC members and Simon & Garfunkel again. The gentle comedy was a surprise hit, winning a BAFTA award in 2015. In May 2019, a panel of sitcom writers and actors voted it 19th in a Radio Times list of Britain's 20 favourite sitcoms.Interestingly, the DVD has all six episodes + a Behind The Scenes bonus feature on one disc; the Blu is split between two discs with episodes 1-3 on Disc One and episodes 4-6 + the bonus feature on the other. Acorn could've easily put all the content onto one Blu, but it looks they've decided to aim for the highest possible quality, so hats off to them. Selected items are only available for delivery via the Royal Mail 48® service and other items are available for delivery using this service for a charge. And ignore the fact that it's a supposed US import; it's Region-Free so you don't need a chipped player. Sadly, Don't Forget the Driver was axed by the BBC due to COVID. Jones and co-writer Tim Crouch had written a second season, and they've indicated they're still open to pursuing it with another network.

The Detectorists Christmas special 2022 is released on Boxing Day at 9 pm on BBC Two. It will also be available to watch on iPlayer. See our Christmas TV guide for more shows to enjoy. What's the plot? And I'm thrilled (and relieved!) to report that there's no competition - the DVD looks like it has a soft, hazy and fuzzy filter over the image, the Blu is sharper, clearer with obviously superior line definition and detail. I guess I’d say it’s a comedy about ordinary people and their hobbies, but it’s actually turned out to be much more than that. And in hindsight, I can’t really claim that I set out to create this thing that explored so deeply these ordinary lives. Essentially it’s about two friends who just spend their time out in the fields metal detecting. I just totally proved your point there. I can’t really describe it.” Although metal detecting is the central activity in the show, it's really a story about friendship and getting the chance to peer into the lives of a unique – yet totally ordinary – group of hobbyists.Detectorists was first broadcast on BBC Four on October 2nd, 2014, followed by series 2 in October 2015. In March 2017, the BBC confirmed the filming of a third and final season which started airing on BBC Four in November 2017. Each series has six episodes, plus one Christmas special in-between series 2 and 3. I would love to do some more. I've got a full year next year, but if there's a chance to do a bit more Detectorists I'd love to revisit it, yeah – and I know Toby would be into it as well.

While Andy and Lance’s friendship could be described as both pathetic and touching, their goal in life as ‘detectorists’ is to find much more than scraps of metal in the ground. They are looking for something to ignite and improve the drudgery of life, believing that any day, ‘this could be their moment’. Their dream is to unearth a Saxon ship burial, their reality is digging up ring pulls from old Fanta cans. As Crook put it, they're “ actually searching for love and for where they belong and all these other things in their life.” And I'm thrilled (and relieved!) to report that there's no competition - the DVD looks like it has a soft, hazy and fuzzy filter over the image, the Blu is sharper, clearer with obviously superior edge definition and detail. But Andy and Lance's beloved Danebury Metal Detecting Club is on the brink of closure with developers looking to buy up the scout's hall where the group meets upland. There is no official release date for Detectorists season 4. For now, all we have is confirmation that Crook is thinking of reviving the series. If there are any further updates, we'll edit this post to include them.

Toby Jones has also stated that he would find it “hard to resist” doing another season of Detectorists. Jones penned and starred in his own offbeat comedy, Don't Forget the Driver, in 2019. The series featured Jones as a Bognor Regis-based coast driver whose life began to change after finding a dead body on the beach. My boss has recorded Season 3 at work from an HD channel, and though he only has a 55" LED TV whereas I have a 65" OLED, I thought I could see a noticeable improvement. Help seems to be on hand when Lance gets permission to search a 10-acre plot of land suspected of concealing buried treasure, but surprise developments put their rescue bid along with Lance and Andy's friendshipon the line.

Who knows what they might be called if season 4 happens… Is Detectorists Over? Will There Be a Fourth Season? Will these guys return for a season 4? The search is jeopardised, however, when the DMDC’s loveably pompous club president, Terry (Gerard Horan), decides to investigate the mystery of the farmer’s missing wife; and events are further complicated by the continued presence of a rival metal-detecting pair who want the turf for themselves. The immensely popular, much-loved series can now be enjoyed time and time again by anyone and everyone as Detectorists Complete Collection arrives on DVD on 30 January 2023, courtesy of Acorn Media International. Detectorists Movie Special will also be available as a single-issue DVD release and on digital, following its broadcast on BBC Two. It's been five long years since BAFTA-winning sitcom Detectorists last appeared on our screens, but there's a Christmas gift in store for fans of the show with this seasonal special.
