It doesn't work well with my chemistry ( and I was suprised that there should be amber in this juice as I don't detect it at all. After less than 10 minutes on my skin the scent becomes more delicate, moves towards powder, then suede-based yellow flowers.

It's very womanly, mature, elegant, classy, and like the inside of a turn of the century courtesan's boudoir, with a mixture of perfume, and actual flowers. Every time I wear it, I get lots of compliments from men and women alike; at first I thought it was only because Maîtresse is a pleasing scent. a very whorish perfume that has a dirty note but it got me so many compliments, even though I hated it.Perhaps it is marketing effecting my mental expirience with this fragance, but on all the occasions I've worn this I manage to find myself feeling.

I had never smelled it before purchasing, but the notes of violet, ylang ylang, rose and amber had me sold before I even smelled it. No, it’s not a loud screecher but just think, this alone for an aldehydic floral is an accomplishment! Also, this is going to drive me crazy all night, but this smells IDENTICAL to another (now vintage) fragrance I used to own or someone I knew well used to wear. This kind of annoys me about AP - their heavy-handed fragrance names (for their more provocative scents) do not match the juice in the bottle; they're almost always opposite. Not grandly however, it's more like the last two flowers remaining on stage as they are all exiting at the end of the show.

The scent is almost ladylike, which immediately makes me want to pair it with some naughty lingerie. The amber is pleasant in a subtle way as its sweetness is continually muted by the suede, must, lotus, violet, and ylang-ylang. Very nice multi layered floral- I don't detect any suede in it- I was expecting it to be very unique and sexy- it is just a layered floral very similar to J'adore.

I was not uncomfortable as he has done this many times but this time I think he could have wanted more than just to smell me. I keep my bottle because I keep thinking I might someday like it (though I am aware that I'm pretty intolerant of synthetic musk, and I'm unlikely to suddenly begin liking it). While still dusty, this is lighter more floral- I can smell the Ylang Ylang but not so much the Iris, and seems more sophisticated and less "dirty" than the original. Next, came one more proof that he was interested in me (not only in my possible purchases): he introduced himself rather warmly. All of these people were women; and neither of them was at all impressed with my appearance or my scent.I don't feel that this is really sexy, it's too subtle and soft for that (i guess a sexy scent to me is an oriental with bigger sillage).
