This unit is perfect if you are looking to study books which have more representative and culturally diverse main characters. This was the first time that this was a 50:50 co-created project… The door’s open for us to be hands on with each other’s contributions to the book. A young girl, Rocket, goes to visit her grandparents and discovers that plastic is a problem on the beach with the creatures that live there. We made predictions and recorded our results and the children were really keen each week to see what had happened.

Straight away we were hooked, we have a grandparent abroad near the beach and love being outdoors at the beach or on the water. Rocket is very excited that she’s going on holiday to see her grandparents at their island Animal Sanctuary. In collaboration with Puffin Books, use our resources based on the fabulous KS1 book, Clean Up by Nathan Bryon, to inspire children to become eco-warriors in and around school! Open the book to allow the air to circulate and gently turn over a few pages at regular intervals to prevent sticking.

I love the message of environmentalism and doubly love that there are additional suggestions and resources at the back of the book. Not only is a used toothbrush full of germs, but if it’s tough enough to clean your teeth, then it’s probably too harsh for brittle paper. Brush away the infection only after protecting the rest of the book and gently swab moldy spots with tiny amounts of denatured alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.

Firstly, I have to say that my niece Malia, who's opinion is much more important than mine, ADORED this book! An Empowering Celebration of Growing Up Black, featuring 18 talented Black British illustrators, which also went on to win Illustrated book of the year at The British Book Awards in 2022. She is the sort of human being who is aspirational, she’s inspired by life and if anything, if kids take that away from the books alone, that’s super important. We chatted to Nathan and Dapo about how their books are created collaboratively, the importance of reflecting the world around them to our children and their top tips on how to get into writing and illustrating - if you're a kid. written by Nathan Bryon and published by Puffin in 2019, which won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize in 2020.

When Rocket goes for a holiday to visit her grandparents, she’s shocked by the pollution that is spoiling their island home and putting the local sea life at risk. This amazing pack contains everything you need for the third session of a week's worth of guided reading lessons based on the brilliant book 'Clean Up!It teaches kids to clean up after themselves on the beach, and also teaches them of how much our climate has changed over the years, it's sad but it's a fact that kids have to know about. It explains this in a way that young readers can understand and it does not come across as “preachy. Even more excitingly, Rocket’s grandparents run whale watching tours and have an animal sanctuary at the back of their house. Perfect for reading to young children to show them not only that they can make a difference but the importance of looking after the world around them.
