Description

It's a trait that was fairly common of cheaper LCD sets a few years ago, but that we haven't seen for quite a while.

We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for two months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. The 65-inch U7H features a FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) backlit VA panel with around 90 zones and a quantum dot layer for improved colour performance. There are also rockers for the volume and channel selections and the whole unit fits neatly in the hand and is comfortable to use with just one hand. Panel uniformity on the U7H is what we would expect from a mid-range FALD VA panel with dark edges to the panel and brighter central areas. Mini LED backlights a 144Hz LED panel, and that’s a refresh rate that’s good news for gamers of all types and PC gamers in particular.Even in the most testing circumstances - thin black text on a black background, for example - the U7K focuses its backlighting well.

Plus, with Freeview Play, you’ll have access to over 40,000 TV shows on-demand as well as over 700 box sets all subscription free. HDR also looks much better on the U7H due to its wider color gamut, much better color volume, higher HDR peak brightness, and better PQ EOTF tracking, so HDR content is more accurate, more vibrant and lifelike, and bright highlights pop much more than on the Samsung. The U8H delivers much better picture quality, as it has a better local dimming feature with a Mini LED backlight.

The Hisense U7H is better than the Samsung Q80C QLED for watching movies, while the Samsung has a slight edge for gaming. If so, you can get the best out of the Hisense U7K - and no matter if you’re using a video streaming service, a current-gen games console, or a UHD Blu-ray player, the Hisense’s best is very agreeable indeed.

If you don’t want your TV to always listen for a wake word, you can turn off hands-free Google Assistant via the settings or manually toggle the privacy switch on the microphone array. The TV supports a variable refresh rate (VRR), and it's compatible with most sources that support VRR.
