Matt is the President of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. He grew up in Mercersburg, a small town in south central Pennsylvania, where he attended Mercersburg Academy, and was a frequent visitor to the Philadelphia Flower Show. He earned his BA in architectural history, which remains a personal passion, from the University of Virginia in 2001, and completed his MBA at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with honors in 2011. Bob Pittman ran MTV and AOL when it was cool to run them, and has since done a lot of other big media jobs. These days, he runs iHeart Media, the nation's biggest radio group, and its biggest podcast group. At this week's Podcast Movement Evolutions conference in Los Angeles, Pittman sat down with Conal Byrne, his top podcasting executive, to talk about the business. I have a little bit of material from Pittman's talk, and my own observations from the show and elsewhere in a deal-filled week for what's become a burgeoning business. The group developed data governance structures specifically for LLMs that should make it clearer what data is being used and who it belongs to, and it sourced different data sets from around the world that weren’t readily available online. The BLOOM AI model opens the portal to next-level intelligence with its exceptional accuracy, scalability, flexibility, rapid learning, and natural language processing. All these abilities make it an excellent tool to implement in various industries to make operations easier.

In his current position Chad leads internal and external training, conference and organizational outreach and K-12 promotion. BigScience has done a “phenomenal” job of building a community around BLOOM, and its approach of involving ethics and governance from the beginning is a thoughtful one, says Percy Liang, director of Stanford's Center for Research on Foundation Models. However, to the researchers’ surprise, the ALiBi application enhanced downstream performance and led to a smoother training process. It even outperformed both learning and rotary embeddings.
