Overall, it is clear that From the New World is not one of the very best Alan Parsons albums (counting The Alan Parsons Project in or out), but still, it is quite all right. The B-side was a live recording of "White Dawn", which was performed by the Metropole Orkest and Gelders Opera and Operetta Gezelschap (GOOG) choir. Quite different from Parsons' normal sound and maybe because it was quiet and laidback, I enjoyed it.

Hence why while the musical and recording practices of the Project remain alive and well, the moniker does not. Bonsamassa tried to inject a little energy into the proceedings, but it just never hit critical mass.Aside from Shaw rocking good and hard on “Uroboros,” it’s the ballads that work best for me on From The New World. While employed at that famed recording studio, Parsons worked on three of the most acclaimed rock albums of all time: The Beatles’ Abbey Road (1969) and Let It Be (1970), and Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (1973). Parson's re-purposing of Antonin Dvorak's 'New World Symphony, Second Movement' as 'Goin' Home' sounded like something off a Broadway cast album. This band performed live in Medellín, Colombia, in 2013 as Alan Parsons Symphonic Project in a performance recorded for Colombian television and also released on CD (live 2-CD) and DVD (May 2016).

In his work with Al Stewart's " Year of the Cat," Parsons added the saxophone part and transformed the original folk concept into the jazz-influenced ballad that put Stewart onto the charts. From the big dramatic sweep of the slightly overlong “Fare Thee Well,” to those stabs from his famous guests, the 11 songs run the gambit. As with previous Alan Parsons albums, he continues the practice of employing a number of musicians and vocalists. These are exciting times for fans of progressive rock: Pink Floyd are back in the singles charts, Yes are on tour again and Alan Parsons has released a new album. The album really ends with the dramatic and emotional “Goin’ Home”, which is beautifully orchestrated and quite emotional. We tell our loved ones “give em my love” when they go to visit family or friends, what if we said it to loved ones in their final moments of life to bring this love with them as a beacon to souls who’ve already passed, so they know they’re not forgotten. Besides David Pack and Joe Bonamassa, guest appearances include Tommy Shaw of STYX and American Idol alumni James Durbin, all of whom blend seamlessly with Alan and his incredible band. Similarly, seemingly intended as a tribute to the late Ronnie Spector, the closer 'Be My Baby' just sounded like a last-minute addition to fill out the album's running time. There are also other limiting factors lately: “I’m getting on in years – I’m 73 now,” Parsons says, “but I’m still pretty energetic, as far as making music is concerned.

The show structure included a first set where all the musicians assembled to perform each other's hits, and a second set featuring all Beatles songs. He has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, with his first win occurring in 2019 for Best Immersive Audio Album for Eye in the Sky (35th Anniversary Edition). He became a regular there, engineering such projects as Wings' Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway, five albums by the Hollies and Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, for which he received his first Grammy Awards nomination. In May 2005, Parsons appeared at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California, to mix front-of-house sound for Southern California-based Pink Floyd tribute band Which One's Pink? From The New World is could almost be considered the best album The Alan Parsons Project never recorded. Again, the song sounded a lot like earlier Parsons efforts, with a touch of David Gilmour thrown in the blend.

Themes of "Don't Answer Me", "The Secret", "Sky in your Eye", "Fool or I'm Wise" are woven in very intelligently within the songs. Opener "Fare Thee Well" is a moving homage to Parsons' former musical partner Eric Woolfson in The Alan Parsons Project, who passed away in 2009. Nothing against classical music - some of the world's most beautiful art is reflected in classical pieces. Listen to Joe Bonamassa’s solo in “Give ‘Em My Love”, on which he shows great restraint and plays the solo that fits with Alan Parsons. Since the end of the 1980s and Alan Parsons Project, there have been a few album and tours with Parsons as a soloist, with backing band for support. As if scoring a slew of hits across Top 40, adult contemporary, and rock radio with his namesake band wasn’t enough, Parsons cemented himself as a master producer/engineer, responsible for bringing to life albums such as The Beatles’ Abbey Road (1969), Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), and Al Stewart’s Year of the Cat (1976), which is widely regarded as the finest production of all time. J. Olsson, guitarist Jeff Kollman, drummer Danny Thompson, keyboardist Tom Brooks, bass guitarist Guy Erez, vocalist and saxophonist Todd Cooper, guitarist and vocalist Dan Tracey, along with Parsons on rhythm guitar, keyboards and vocals. She has also written album liner notes and artist bios (PR materials) for several major musical artists. Songs are very well crafted overall as that is really Parsons specialty, "Give 'em my love" is a prime example of what a great composer and arranger he is, the song just builds and then explodes.
