Ong-a-Kwie had convictions for possessing cocaine and cannabis and failure to surrender to custody from when he was 16. Characters== * "Pearl," the story's narrator, is modest and reserved and adores her older sister. In the book, she reaches the age of 11. Harley, with whom she observes badgers, and Mrs. Wilberforce, who lends her books from her personal library, are close friends of hers. Is this realistic? Yeah, for sure. Once I was a teenager, I basically got the message from those around me that I should be flattered by male attention. But in a children’s book, this could be a teaching moment that counters that messed up attitude. Something that sends the message to kids that it’s not okay, it’s not fair, it’s not “proof” of their adulthood, but a betrayal of them as children and human beings who deserve to be protected from predatory men. The Lifeboat spokesman said people still visit Buncrana pier occasionally to leave a floral tribute in memory of the victims.

May – The third daughter of Joe and Sharon, May is born at the end of the book. Pearl says that she is not like Jodie or like Pearl, but just like herself.Jed - Melchester's gardener. Jodie fancies him and they hang out together and kiss but when Jed kills a badger, Jodie hates him and they don't speak. He later dates Tiffany Colgate. Also, how about let’s not have the cool, imitable character using the R-word, hey? At the time of this book being written, I was a pupil at a PRU, a ‘special school’ if you will, and I was very aware of just how not okay and painful that word could be. So let’s not include it in children’s books as a totally-fine, neutral insult to use! Okay, that is all (Didn’t I keep it brief this time? Well done me). Jodie. It was the first word I ever said. Most babies lisp Mumma or Dadda or Drinkie or Teddy. Maybe everyone names the thing they love best. I said Jodie, my sister. Pearl - the main character and narrator of the story. Pearl is shy and quiet, and adores her older sister. She turns 11 in the book. She makes friends with Harley and Mrs Wilberforce, who is a bookworm like Pearl. It is hinted a couple of times she may have a crush on Harley. I find it quite funny that Harley is never mentioned without reference to how tall he is. Not once. Try and find a single instance, I challenge you. When Pearl turns eleven, she receives several lovely presents. When Pearl wakes up, she finds Jodie has made her a card and a bracelet. Mrs Wilberforce gives Pearl a manuscript book and tells her that she has to write her own story in it. Harley gifts her with a torch, and they go out to badger watch together every night. One night, much to Pearl's pleasure, they even hold hands. When Pearl comes home, Jodie demands to know what's going on because she gets the wrong idea and thinks that they are being romantic. Pearl tells her they have been watching badgers and did not want her to come because she was too noisy. Sharon - The cook at Melchester College is Sharon, Joe's wife and mother of Jodie, Pearl, and May. She continually reprimands or lectures Jodie for failing to appreciate all the advantages she never had as a youngster. The Love is Lovecollection is meant to serve as little reminders to Love – be it to your best friend, significant other, sister, or self. I’m 32 and don’t yet have kids or a family of my own (though I spend 90% of my time with my sister, her husband, and my niece), but my career has brought me great fulfilment on a number of levels. Over these last 10 years in New York, I’ve experienced tremendous love – many times and in many forms.I’ve learned more about myself through every relationship and I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I feel like at the time Wilson used diversity without being asked. It was just natural, although I do feel like some of her books may feel dated and not very PC (for example, the plot twist in one of her books being the love interest was gay, which I loved at the time, but now realise that should not be a tool for a plot twist). Nevertheless, Wilson has always written beautiful real life feeling stories with well fleshed out characters, with families and focusing on everyday real life struggles as well as positivity. Although coming out of this left me feeling melancholy and down, there is always that hint of positivity, I find.Det Ch Insp Dave Whellams, who investigated Jodie Chesney's murder, described the 17-year-old as a typical "girl next door". Mrs Colgate and Tiffany Colgate - Two very plump cleaning ladies and they have a debate with Mrs Wells, Sharon. Tiffany Colgate later dates Jed, the gardener.
