Description

The forefoot in this Altra shoe is indeed much wider than most running shoes. We measured its widest part at 103.4 mm, which is nearly 5 mm wider than the average. Not to mention the wide and squared shape of the toebox! They all are, it’s just what they do. Narrow-footed runners might be swimming in it, but medium to wide-footed runners should find a very comfortable home in the Olympus. The weight of the whole shoe is the same though (within 5grams each) as far as my 2 pairs of 4.0 AND the 5.0 pair i got, so no disadvantage at least here with the 5.0. Add the fifth version of the Altra Olympus to your running shoe rotation if you want a protective and comfy shoe for:

I have 2 pairs of Lone Peaks and have even used them to hike a 22 miler with 6000 elevation no problem. My recent run last week of 24.5 left the tip of my right foot all swollen and in a lot of pain.. was thinking because I was running not hiking I needed more cushion. I only have 1 week before my 50k not sure wether to use new Lobe Peak 5 or Olympus 4. Just received both and don’t have a lot of time to break them in. Both feel good. Any suggestions? Heel fit, they are very similar. Both heel collars come up about the same height, though I'd say the heel cup on the Hoka is a little bit more rigid. Overall, the heel platform is noticeably wider on the Altra, as the Hoka ends right where the perimeter rubber on one side of the Altra starts. What is lost in responsiveness is easily made up for in comfort. The sidewalls are constructed with just enough padding, in just the right spots, and the tongue's low profile all add up to an amazing feel. That combined with the plush cushion of the sole makes for a shoe you just don't want to take off. The most important difference between Olympus and Lone Peak is in their cushioning (as it's the case with almost all Altra trail running shoes). The first is a Footshape Toe Box that allows the toes to spread, allowing your big toe to remain in position for maximum stability and power. We have thoroughly enjoyed the stable and planted steps ensured by the shoe. Its base is very wide, so you don't have to worry about missteps.

Vanaf vandaag bent u altijd op de hoogte van nieuwtjes over de collecties, acties, nieuwe producten en evenementen. The Altra Olympus 4.0 raises no durability concerns to me at this point. The shoe has held up well to everything I’ve thrown at it thus far, and save for some stubborn mud looks no worse for the wear. So, in traction department, it's safe to say Olympus 4.0 = Lone Peak 4.5 > Olympus 3.5 for most of the cases. Conclusion I'd even go that far and recommend you to downright IGNORE EVERYTHING else such as traction, fit, breathability, durability etc...

Cushion: It might not be for everyone, but the bounce in this ride is undeniable. I experienced fewer pointy zingers and less daily foot fatigue in these shoes when compared to other, less-cushioned shoes that I have used (and loved) while thru-hiking.
