I think you would get much better training stimulus doing daily runs in a shoe like the Divide and reserving the Speedgoats for when you really need them. This has bothered me during the first few miles of runs, so those sensitive to those will likely not do well in this shoe.

I would classify cushioning as medium firm in the most positive way, where they feel well cushioned enough for a full day out, however is firm enough to feel supportive over long distances and predictable/protective when running rocky, technical trails. Like the Divide, DNA LOFT cushioning was also an upgrade to the Cascadia 16, so if you’ve run in the latest model of the Cascadias (or Brooks’s Glycerin 19 road shoe), you may have already experienced the all-around softer feel of DNA LOFT. Designed with a breathable textile upper, feet are kept cool and dry whilst a DNA Loft midsole offers customised cushioning adapting to your feet with every glide giving smoother transitions and softer landings. It may not be the most breathable in the summertime, but we suspect it will last longer due to the thicker fabric found throughout the upper.As you can see from the picture below, the grooves are oriented in more of a fluid manner, rather than being straight across or at regular intervals.

The weight is on the lighter side for a trail shoe, making it easy to pick up the pace in this shoe when necessary. While the Brooks Divide 3 makes an excellent trail/road option for the newer runner looking to explore off-road surfaces to see if they like it, it also may work as a lower to the ground, simple performance shoe for experienced runners who want a slightly wider fit in a lighter package. Once you put this shoe on, you can feel the stiff, neutral platform that allows for confident running even if you suffer from issues related to stability.
