For a more informed choice when it comes to choosing the best tool sharpener to add to the equipment in your shop, we have reviewed five top wet grinders below for you to consider. Mophorn Wet Grindstone 10-inch Wet Grinder Sharpener 90 RPM Wheel Speed Grindstone MX-250 Grindstone for knife (90 RPM) The Tormek T-8 sharpening system is the perfect answer to your sharpening requirements. For any professional or amateur needing a versatile, reliable and repeatable sharpening system, the T-8 should be on the top of your list. Regardless of the grinder you choose don’t risk burning the edges of your precision woodworking tools with a dry stone grinder. The best tool sharpener for your wood carving tools or knives is a wet stone grinder. Therefore the tool stays cooler and consequently creates a razor sharp edge. Thus understanding of the importance of owning a wet stone grinder sharpener. Chose from one of the products mentioned above which fits both your needs and your budget. A very effective wet sharpener. The lower portion of the grindstone runs in a bath of water, this secures cooling and eliminates the risk of overheating. Robust and powerful engine with a gradual rotation regulation of 90-150rpm.

Design: This grinder features a rotating wetstone that works in a water bath at 95rpm. The sharpening stone is continuously cooled and prevents the tool from losing its hardness and ensures a durable grinding. The break-resistant water tank ensures that the workbench stays dry.I trialled various quality soft and hard steels and all were handled well with the Scheppach. Japanese chisels with their short shanks were problematic however; these would not work in the jig meaning they had to be ground freehand.

OK it is not cheap but you get what you pay for and the T8 is well-thought-out and robustly made. The jigs are solid and look as though they will never break and the instruction book is excellent.

For me as a non business user, very non technical person, but keen cook, fisherman, home butchery enthusiast, this is absolutely the dogs.... It is very well made, easy to install / put together, quiet, and just wow, on how sharp you can get knives of all lengths, even with the basic stone & stropping wheel.... It becomes addictive to sharpen, and cut things.... T4 or t8? This is a very well made unit which is easy to use and ideal for chisels and plane blades. Its also good for honing knives that dont need sharpening. It doesnt come with any jigs or truing device so the cost difference isnt that great but this is a nice compact unit, ideal for the home user. If you buy a smaller 200mm diameter grinder you will trade off stone size, power and have to settle for a plastic housing. Is the cost saving justified? Initially I wondered if the Scheppach 200mm grinder would be limited in its application. However in my short review, I found that if you allow for its shortcomings it will give a highly acceptable grind to chisels and plane irons. The Tormek wet-grinding method leaves a polished, burr-free edge without overheating the tool. Wet grinding significantly extends the life of your tools; it removes less material without affecting the temper of the steel. The T8 also includes the SE-77 upgraded jig for square edge tools. Its design has a movable side and fine adjustment. This ensures a precise 90° angle between your blade’s edge and side. It also offers the possibility to create a slightly cambered edge. No more daily grind. Ultra wet grinders patented conical stones generate less heat while grinding. While this has many benefits an important one is long-lasting batter. It stays fresh for up to 5 days and also produces fresher tasting idlis. AISI 304 The Tormek T-4 is a high quality and compact sharpening machine, ideal for home and hobby work as well as professional use. You get access to the extensive Tormek jig system and can sharpen all the common edge tools with highest precision. I am a maintenance gardener, and use an Eliet minor 4s shredder to mulch huge piles of waste. The T8 was bought to sharpen the blades, which are expensive. It makes them as sharp as new and does not destroy the temper of the steel. Am finding more uses for T8 as I go,....shears, chipper blades, edge cutters, scissors, hoes etc.. It is a serious machine, the jigs are solid, stable and look like they will last for years.

NSS sent it with DHL who were easy to deal with because I wanted to collect it from a local service point. (I mention this because there is a very well known parcel company which should be avoided). The quality of the Tormek is excellent. As opposed to a standard dry grinder, certainly a wet stone sharpening system remains cooler and makes it next to impossible to overheat and burn your tools. Additionally, a wet stone wheel tends to be wider and allows for a more uniform edge on wider tools. Because of these two factors, wet stone grinders tend to be a much better option for sharpening woodworking tools.
