Description

A working system should not generate further trapped gas. Air may be drawn in if there is a small leak, or dissolved air in make-up water may come out of solution, but this generally indicates a system leak if new water is needing to be added. The most likely cause of continual gas bleeding is hydrogen, rather than air. [2] If there is corrosion or rusting of internal metal components, this releases hydrogen gas. The appropriate cure here though is the use of a chemical inhibitor, rather than continual bleeding. [3] A step that not many people do but gets you a much better result is to raise the front of your vehicle first. With this method, you will get the air out of the car a lot easier, especially if your filling cap is at your radiator. If you have a car with an external expansion tank installed in the engine’s rear, this may not be necessary. The valves are installed at a high point of the system, where trapped air collects. They may be installed at the highest point in a system, but in a system with pumped circulation this is rarely necessary. Instead they are placed at some local high point, such as the highest point within a utility cupboard or boiler room, even though this is in a basement. European domestic gas boilers often include such a valve within the boiler casing itself. [1]

Aladdin Autovents: Self Bleeding Radiator Valves | UK Radiators

This radiator air venting valve comes in three different thread sizes and can be used to manual air vent for radiators. Manual vent opening by fingers, no key is required. The HV30 model or OEM model (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is a lower cost ½” BSP version with exactly the same mechanism inside, lasting the same amount of time. The valves are normally installed with the first installation of a system, then remain in place for the life of the system. They are generally reliable and require no maintenance. If they do eventually fail, they are replaced rather than repaired. A leaking valve commonly shows a dribble of water from the air vent, or stains of rust or limescale. Manual vent opening by fingers, no key is required to vent the radiator. Aladdin Autovents reduce the volume of air/gas in radiators and helps to maintain their thermal efficiency, thereby reducing the fuel and energy usage. The new method, which I use myself, is the vacuum method. You need a vacuum tool for this and compressed air (depending on the tool) to use this method.

Our 1/8” BSP comes with a ¼” chromed adaptor which is 1/8” BSP on the inside and ¼” BSP on the outside. In a closed heating system though, it has no other means of escape and builds up. An air bubble trapped within a radiator means that no hot water circulates in the upper part and so the heating power of the radiator is reduced. If air is trapped within the boiler this may cause pump cavitation or boiling and overheating within the heat exchanger. We have two 6mm models. One is called the Micro Barlo which has an extended length thread and a conical tip. The other is the Micro 6mm which has a short 6mm thread. Yes, provided the temperature of the piping allows the valve to operate at 35°C for the Hygroseal™ Autovents. 14) Can the valves work on negative pressure systems?

I’m not a plumber but am looking for some general advice as to what’s feasible. Tried searching here but the search engine doesn't seem to be working today. Construction is of the usual cast brass housing for plumbing parts, with a threaded connection to the pipework at the base. The top has a small outlet, usually hidden beneath a plastic dust cap. Internally there is a large hollow body, normally filled with water, and containing a float valve. The valve must always be installed vertically, usually at the top of a short vertical pipe. The Micro Barlo fits ‘Roll-Top’ radiators. These have a rolled over steel smooth top to the radiator panel. The left and right edges are welded seams. One model has the bleed pin facing to the wall and on a double panel a second bleed pin also faces outwards. BSP (British Standard Pipe) plumbing thread allows a ½” tube to pass inside the thread which approximately has a 20.8 mm outside thread on it. The inside is around 18.6 mm and inside that size a ½” 12.7mm pipe will pass.Always read the description of your coolant for the correct instructions. If you live in a cold country, you have to make sure that the coolant mix is correct. If your coolant freezes in your engine, it will destroy your engine. We have a Micro 7mm which has a short thread that fits the CenterRad radiator where the tapping is at 45° to the radiator. 2) How do the Autovents work? Fitting Aladdin Autovents to radiators helps increase efficiency by eliminating gas and air from radiators automatically. BSP is approximately 14.5mm. If you use the ¼” BSP thread for your radiator, then it will need PTFE tape fitted on the outside of the bush. Once your radiator begins to feel cold at the top, air has begun to build and the Autovent needs to be replaced. Our Autovents have a unique patented design which means at the end of the product life they will seal shut. 5) Don’t all Automatic De-aeration valves leak?
