Description

We want to unify the colors between your steering wheel and the leather filling as much as possible. A leather dye will also restore some shine and texture to your worn leather steering wheel. Perhaps your steering wheel has been scuffed by your rings, this repair kit will resolve these issues for you. Apply more Leather Degreaser to a cloth and rub in a circular motion to the greasy areas. Applying heavy pressure with the cloth will assist in the removal of the grease. Continue to work the Liquid Degreaser into the rest of the affected area, rotating the cloth as it becomes dirty with the grease. Leave to dry (drying times of the degreaser can be reduced to around 10 seconds with the use of a hairdryer).

Then we start with the primmer process of applying special sealers and primers to ensure your wheel is sealed ready for its colour applications. You can remove the leather cleaner with a simple wet cloth when you’re done. All you need to do is get a cloth slightly damp and then wipe the steering wheel down. This will wash away excess leather cleaner, and you’ll be able to feel confident that your steering wheel will keep looking great. Some people even apply a leather conditioner to their steering wheels sometimes, so you may want to consider doing that occasionally, as well. Keep in Mind That Some Steering Wheels Can’t Be RestoredTo apply the clear coat lacquers these are stippled on to the surface allowing all bubbles to disperse before drying with a hairdryer, it’s best to apply three coats of PU lacquer to the leather steering wheel. The first big step is going to be to cover up your car’s interior. This is going to allow you to keep your interior safe from some of the chemicals that you will be using. You should use the cloth that I mentioned earlier to cover the car up. It’s best to choose a sturdy type of cloth for this that won’t allow chemicals to seep through.

Before you start the process of restoring your steering wheel’s leather, you need to prep the area. This means cleaning the steering wheel to remove any dirt, grime, or residue that could hinder the restoration process. To clean your steering wheel, use a mild soap and water solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or detergents, as these could damage the leather. Once you’ve prepped the steering wheel, you’re ready to start restoring it. Step 2: Choose Your Leather Cleaner Just like there are a variety of leather cleaners on the market, there are also a variety of leather conditioners. Choosing a conditioner that’s right for your steering wheel is important. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive conditioners, as these could damage the leather. Instead, opt for a conditioner that’s specifically designed for use on leather surfaces. Step 7: Apply the Conditioner to the Steering Wheel Containing a powerful liquid-form leather degreaser to remove any grease build up that may have penetrated the leather and an alcohol-based cleaner, to effectively clean down the surface of the leather, cleaning up your steering wheel is a breeze. Leather Binder strengthens the leather, particularly in areas of wear and damage and the Base Colour is used to restore the colour and finish. While restoring your steering wheel, you want to ensure that the rest of the car does not get exposed to any unwanted debris or chemicals. Place a tarp over the driver’s seat, covering it fully.
