Kester is the first human the animals have been able to communicate with and they desperately need his help. I also enjoyed the message that the author was trying to get across which was combined with such a wonderful sense of humour and fun that it was always a treat to be reading it. There are a total of 150 SMART Notebook screens (in one file) and each lesson is clearly marked, along with details about which lesson each chapter should be read, to aid and link to the learning. In the first few chapters i like the bit when Kester hears the animals talking and he can understand them.

The more that I think about it, the more I start to situate this book in a sort of British animal children's literary canon (and god, how I wish I could phrase that more cogently but I will let it stand).Für ein Kinder-/Jugendbuch eine sehr schöne Geschichte mit ein paar Längen und Ungereimtheiten, aber trotzdem kurzweilig. Grey wolves – real wolves – still roam the forests and plains of vast swathes of Europe, Asia, and North America: powerful, intelligent, social animals, hunting, living and travelling in packs made up of their own families, just as humans did before we discovered farming eleven-thousand years or so ago. When I turned the last page of the book, I wished I could get my hands on the next one, because I have got to find out what happens next to Kester and everyone.
