While I did think things worked out a bit too easily for Zoey and their big miscommunication (one of my least favorite things in romance) could have been avoided I applaud the author for having Zoey learn that she was capable of standing on her own two feet. I loved how they became friends and he created a safe place for her before they started seeing each other as more.

I was screaming at them “just do it already” and alas they finally did and well, it was worth the wait. Zoey and Ryan are anything but typical and I think that’s a large part of what made me love them so much. I think that the narrated version of this book made Zoey seem more air headed and dumb for a lack of a better word, than the written book did because of the way it was narrated as opposed to the way I narrated it in my head when I was reading it.This was a VERY slow burn story, like almost to the end slow burn but honestly for this couple and their situation it worked. The female narration, while it was better, really lacked in relaying the emotions … so a bit robotic maybe?

Ryan is just an amazingly nice guy and works very hard to make Zoey comfortable and build her trust. She attended the theatre program at Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas, [4] where she participated in productions of the plays Suburbia, Through a Glass Onion, and Don't Rock the Jukebox. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find that nearly all my problems in the first book were IMMENSELY IMPROVED in this installment. Like the first book in this series, the author showcased the importance of growing as individuals and also growing as a couple, and in the case of this book, the biggest growth happened when the MCs spent time apart.

Esam pieraduši pie autobusu smirdīgajiem bomžiem, bet tā jau ir galējā fāze, gana liels ir neredzamo bezpajumtnieku skaits, kuri cenšas palikt virs ūdens, bet visu laiku nākas peldēt pret straumi. It’s also the fact both of them were grown adults but were acting like children around each other; some of their actions in this book were so ridiculous that I can’t even describe. Yes, she uses her style as a kind of defense mechanism to make herself seem less appealing to assault and harrasment but even that I found problematic because when you couple that with the fact that more than once it's stated that Blonde = pretty, feminine and soft with Tiny = feminine and soft. When Zoey met our hero, Ryan, she was homeless and living in the shelters and if there was no place in them, she was sleeping in 7/24 open diners.

Madeline Dauer and Alex Kydd did a fantastic job of portraying the chemistry between the main character, and the spicy scenes were so hot. Once they realize they're sexually attracted to each other, they rediscover their attraction multiple times. Its the ultimate in slow burns, but necessary because of the plot because to do otherwise would have been cringey. I had a large number of audible books, and have never understood why anyone would want to change the speed—until now. In 2020, Bailey starred as Abby Anderson in the video game The Last of Us Part II, a role which won her the BAFTA Award for Best Performer in a Leading Role and the Best Performance award at The Game Awards 2020, although she received death threats in response of the controversy and the character prior to that.I get why Zoey would be hurt, but there's a point where I feel it goes from licking wounds a bit to just trying to punish the other person - be it consciously or subconsciously. The constant struggle between Ryan wanting to purchase things for Zoey and Zoey feeling like she owed him, coupled with the humiliation of being homeless, was so realistic. I struggle with authors who insist on writing FMC in the gaze of whiteness and it's beauty standards as if there aren't all kinds of gorgeous and feminine and lovely women of all shapes and sizes and colors who are desireable and kick ass. We’d come a long way since our first days, but there was still a part of her she shielded and held back from me.
