It's ash, which was completely the wrong wood to use, but it's what I had at the time and it was just an experiment born from necessity. Yes but I don't know what it is for and I don't use it except for piling more stuff on as in current kitchen there isn't enough worktop. Otherwise, I'd just go with a regular hardwood (like maple) and coat it with mineral oil or salad bowl finish. As I would leave the dishes draining until dry, the water would collect and stand underneath and the granite lost its shine a bit.

Whatever style you decide on, these drainers are designed to allow water to collect beneath the items you have been washing up and easily drain away. If you decide to go with raw linseed, get GOOD quality stuff, not the cheapest, and warm it up to 60 deg C, brush it on and keep it warm with a heat gun (don't overheat) it will penetrate more. I noticed that you are from Shetland, a coincidence since we do a lot of business there, and go there often. The two elements can be used separately – to cater for double the capacity – or together – for an all-in-one drainage unit. These standalone draining boards feature angled grooves, which allow excess water to easily drain away. I just read this thread over again and see I was thinking cutting board but the OP was asking about a drain board.Black Creek also produce a white oak cutting board that is blackened using the tannic acid contained in white oak. This white rack uses soft-tipped pegs to support your dishes in any direction, and has a cutlery holder that can be removed for easy cleaning. Some of our partners may process your data as a part of their legitimate business interest without asking for consent. The wood cutting boards we have are endgrain but when I clean them off after each use I clean both sides so the water exposure is equal. In this top view the Kohler product is already missing the lower LH radius and there are about 10 different places where the strips are starting to delaminate. While I was looking for an oil/wax product this morning to put on the new walnut cutting board, I happened across these folks in Kingston NY that produce custom made cutting boards.

The people who we bought the house of did not leave me any instructions on how to maintain it but did leave some danish oil under the sink. With the length of the shank there was some chatter but very shallow final passes came good in the end. It looks to me like they have put a coat of polyurethane over the top of whatever was there as there are patchy bits and some uneven bits. and air gap underneath allows the inevitable spillages that escape cleanup (the better half can treat washing up like a water party! The radius is usually the problem because as you're making the turn, you're unknowingly bending the blade. The drainage grooves become deeper towards the edge of the work surface, allowing water to flow directly into the sink. This ceramic angled drainer is designed to sit directly on any work surface, though is particularly well-suited for protecting a wooden worktop. Once applied the water will normally stay on top of the finish, if that doesn't happen any more you will know it's time for a maintenance layer. To keep the all-natural look flowing throughout your kitchen, you might like to add an angled drainer made from wood.
