Description

Calcium can decrease the absorption of other drugs such as tetracycline antibiotics (for example, doxycycline, minocycline), bisphosphonates (such as alendronate), estramustine, levothyroxine, and quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin). Also, certain medications can decrease the absorption of vitamin D (bile acid sequestrants such as cholestyramine/ colestipol, mineral oil, orlistat). Separate your doses of these medications as far as possible from your doses of calcium/ vitamin D. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about how long you should wait between doses and for help finding a dosing schedule that will work with all your medications.

It provides a rich source of calcium which contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, while vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium During pregnancy the daily intake should not exceed 2500 mg calcium (including food and supplementation). If you are pregnant, you may use Calcichew 500mg in case of a calcium deficiency. The studies also revealed a couple of downsides to high levels of calcium supplementation, but not to calcium obtained through a regular diet: A doctor might recommend short-term use of higher dose calcium carbonate (up to 1,000 mg), but you should not take more than 8 grams daily during that time period. Precautions to be aware of Estimated Average Requirement (EAR): Average daily level of intake estimated to meet the requirements of 50% of healthy individuals; usually used to assess the nutrient intakes of groups of people and to plan nutritionally adequate diets for them; can also be used to assess the nutrient intakes of individuals

When should I take calcium supplements? Does it matter what time?

Dosage forms: oral suspension (1250 mg/5 mL), oral tablet (1250 mg; 600 mg; 648 mg), oral tablet, chewable (1000 mg; 1177 mg; 500 mg; 600 mg; 750 mg; 850 mg) Digitalis and other cardiac glycosides: the oral administration of calcium combined with vitamin D increases the toxicity of digitalis (risk of dysrythmia). Strict medical supervision, and if necessary, monitoring ECG and calcaemia are necessary. Getting much more than the recommended amount of calcium from food and supplements increases the risk of side effects, so it’s best to avoid taking too much. Where Should You Get Calcium? You need to take calcium carbonate with food, because it's easier for your body to absorb that way. You can take calcium citrate on an empty stomach or with food. About ConsumerLab.com. Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor's approval. Accrete D3 film-coated tablets should be prescribed with caution to patients suffering from sarcoidosis, due to the risk of increased metabolism of vitamin D into its active form. These patients should be monitored with regard to the calcium content in serum and urine. Adverse reactions are listed below, by system organ class and frequency. Frequencies are defined as: uncommon (≥1/1,000, to <1/100); rare (≥1/10,000, to <1/1,000), very rare (≤1/10,000) or not known (cannot be estimated from the available data). All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical
