Small changes include a repositioned wireless slave sensor and a reconfigured AF assist beam emitter - No radio control, so use third-party wireless radio control devices or use the optical wireless system. probability: typeof mcxPresetParam.probability === 'number' ? mcxPresetParam.probability : 100, //0 - 100% Yes (I use this, but don't get confused because the green ready light now means it's less charged than the default red one!). Flash exposure is controlled by the camera. Different flashes will give the same results, with the only difference being if they have enough power and if they are ready to shoot fast enough.

And the first thing we need to deal with regarding this new flash is the name - The original flash was touting its ETTL-"II" capabilities in its name and now we have the 580EX "II" - which is still E-TTL II. When your Speedlite is set to this option it will function as the Sender (main) unit that controls any other Receiver (secondary) units that are set to the same Channel. It will also allow you to control the manual power ratio between Sender and Receiver groups. The other primary difference is that the 580EX II can be used as a master to trigger remote Canon wireless slave flashes while the 430EX can only act as a slave flash. Those of you familiar with Canon's recent flashes will correctly recognize Auto and Manual External metering as being new.Canon calls this the "EM" mode as it comes up on the LCD as you press the MODE button. This stands for External Manual Flash Metering, meaning that the exposure is controlled automatically by a sensor on the front of the flash (not in the camera). You have to set your ISO and aperture on the flash manually so it can calculate the exposure. I wouldn't use throw-away alkaline cells unless I was in a pinch - but I always carry a spare set of charged eneloop in my bag. Press the Zoom/Wireless Select Button to access the options listed above. When the option you have chosen is blinking, turn the Select Dial to cycle through the options in parentheses. As each option become available it will blink. Press the Select/Set Button to set your choice. Once set, the option will no longer blink. expireDaysIfNo: typeof mcxPresetParam.expireDaysIfNo === 'number' ? mcxPresetParam.expireDaysIfNo : 30, //days

The Sender will control all receivers set to the same channel. Receivers set to a different channel will not fire. This is the easiest mode to use for flash as the main light - stopping even the fastest action in the dark. Another interesting mode available on the Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash is Multi Mode - or Stroboscopic flash. Press this button once if you wish to manually set the flash coverage angle. The 580EX II will otherwise adjust its coverage to your lens' focal length automatically. Press and hold this button if you wish to select one of the three wireless options (available only The extents of periphery wireless reception are +-40 degrees horizontally and +-30 degrees vertically.NiMH batteries have much less internal resistance than alkaline batteries resulting in significantly shorter re-cycle times (up to 50% faster). My comparisons showed external metering, even from a 1D Mark III, to be significantly underexposed (typically 1.5 stops or so) unless the subject was very dark.
