Nestled just a few miles off the picturesque west coast of Scotland, Jura has been cherished by whisky aficionados and intrepid explorers from across the globe. But the perception of Jura seems to change. Slowly. And it’s largely thanks to independent bottlers, who release older gems such as this one, but also due to official limited editions that showcase the potential of this remote island distillery. Just recently Ruben compared an independent bottling of Jura to “old Clynelishes or more exotic malts like Glen Mhor or Banff.” High praise indeed. Matured in American white oak ex bourbon and hand selected American Rye barrels, the casks deliver depth and complexity to our 14-year-old single malt with layered spice, aromatic, herbal and floral qualities. Jura Whisky Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. The rye casks impart notes of cinnamon, vanilla, cacao and warming honey to Jura’s signature smooth and bright profile. The close-knit group are the inspiration for us to produce whiskies which transport you to Jura with every sip. Nose: Zesty wafts of fresh lemon peel and candied orange open things up followed by mint leaves and blossom.

Jura 14 Year Old American Rye Cask is a celebration of Jura’s bright community spirit; a close-knit group of around 212 individuals, whether you are coming from near or far, you can always rely on a warm welcome from this tiny island community. Every time you pour a glass, you’re raising a dram with the islanders who have a hand in making it and with every rye-spiced sip you will taste Jura’s bright and characterful spirit. A gift from our tiny island community to you. Finish: A long, warm and nutty finish with notes of toffee, maple syrup, guava and soft wood spices. The remote Scottish island provides the canvas from which these dedicated islanders take their inspiration and the distillery provides the means to bring this to life. Our stills are amongst the tallest in Scotland, which create a light new make spirit with a citrus and pine character, and we use peated malted barley for less than four weeks a year which is added sparingly to provide body and seasoning to each whisky. This allows the Jura distillery to provide a unique home to craft our spirit.The rye casks add a warming complexity and depth of flavour to our signature fresh and vibrant Jura spirit, making it a perfect dram for every season. The Isle of Jura 14 Years American Rye Cask was announced in early April and is available in the UK now, but will also roll out into other key markets later this year, including the Netherlands. On the palate, flavours of toffee apple and pecan pie are revealed with layers of cinnamon, honey, cacao and hazelnut, before giving way to a long, warm and nutty finish leaving an impression of maple syrup, guava and soft spice.
