The right-side panel doesn't have any holes for ventilation, but the inside of the panel is padded. This pad is designed to help reduce noise created by vibration, but it's difficult to say exactly how helpful this is. The finished system doesn't seem to be particularly loud, but this has a lot more to do with the cooling hardware you bring to the build than the case itself. For GPU dT, the DX averaged 54C. As usual, that’s nearer to average compared to other GPU temperatures on the chart, but still acceptable. The P400A RGB still does better by a couple degrees, as does the NZXT H710, but the only cases that beat it by a large margin are ones with direct GPU cooling like the DIYPC Zondda-O and our custom configuration of the Lian Li O11 XL. CONCLUSION I would have perhaps liked to have seen that modular PSU shroud from the larger Dark Base Pro series make an appearance here. I think allowing the choice of how the shroud appears for modular builds is an excellent addition to a PC chassis and one I hope be quiet! expands across its product range to better differentiate its own cases from the competition. There is no law saying they can't make loud products, but all of the marketing and advertising thus far has gone into reinforcing that belief. Thanks to be quiet! We can use some of the highest quality components on the market for this test. We have a bunch of be quiet! Silent Wings 3 fans of both 120mm and 140mm in size. These are the high-speed Silent Wings 3 fans, which means we have a broader range of speed to decipher the ideal RPM for this experiment.

Pure Base 500DX Case Review: Mesh Thermals, Noise be quiet! Pure Base 500DX Case Review: Mesh Thermals, Noise

To ensure any change of the ambient temperature in the test room does not adversely affect the results of the test, all average temperature measurements displayed in the comparison data are presented as Delta T, which means we deduct the ambient room temperature from the average component temperature to calculate the Delta. Throughout testing, the ambient temperature of the test room remains between 21-23⁰C. Other companies with too specific or unfortunate wording have changed their name to better represent what they sell. The Pure Base 500DX can house up to two 3.5 mm Hard Drives or up to five 2.5 mm Solid State Drives thanks to its HDD/SDD caddy and SSD mounting trays. With the system configured to either a balanced pressure setup with equal intake and exhaust fans or leaning slightly towards negative or positive pressure, there isn't a huge change in component and system temperature. A negative pressure configuration slightly favours CPU temperature, however, a positive pressure configuration should be optimal for keeping dust from entering the system to a minimum, as long as all intake fans are filtered.Setting up a balanced pressure fan configuration means equal intake and exhaust fans. For this setup, we used two 120mm fans at the front of the case as intakes and two 120mm fans as exhausts, one rear-mounted and one top mounted. Inside the Pure Base 500DX, the PSU and 3.5-inch-drive storage mounts are located in a compartment at the bottom of the case. In addition to making the finished system look cleaner, this design also makes building the computer easier in many ways. Dimensions of 463mm (H) x 231mm (W) x 450mm (L) are relatively petite for a mid-tower frame and all of the highlights of the Pure Base 500 are present. These include a shrouded PSU bay, seven expansion slots, 369mm graphics card clearance, 190mm CPU cooler clearance, and a choice of three dual-bay storage solutions; a 3.5in cage at the bottom of the case, a 2.5in tray behind the motherboard tray, and a 2.5in column alongside the motherboard that doubles as cable-routing mechanism while putting your prized SSDs on full display. With this in mind, we would suggest when using a PC case of this type, to install the system fans to slightly favour a positive pressure airflow configuration for the optimal compromise between system temperature and dust levels. To create a positive pressure fan configuration you will need slightly more intake fans or higher intake flowrate than exhaust.

Switchable multi mode and multi color ARGB LED lighting(white, red, green, blue, orange, purple), internal and external, supports motherboard LED control The front panel is removed by firmly pulling at the bottom edge. It does take a bit more force than expected which led to some concern about breaking the retaining posts, but after removing the panel several times for this review, these concerns were unfounded. With the front panel off, we get a fantastic look at the front filter. Throughout testing the CPU cooler fan speed is fixed at 1200RPM, The GPU fans are fixed at 50% duty cycle and all case fans are configured to 1200RPM to maintain consistency. The same goes for the new Pure Base 500DX, which is actually a special version of the existing Pure Base 500 mid-tower, with a few changes to make it even better. Even if you're familiar with the Pure Base 500, it's worth going over these substantial improvements as it switches things up considerably. The be quiet! Pure Base 500DX is all about cooling, and the front mesh panel is glorious for hot PC builds. At the front on the I/O panel are a pair of USB ports: one being a super speed 3.0 (USB 3.2 Gen1) and the other a 3.1 Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen2). High definition audio in and out ports are located between the power button and the ARGB controller button. The Pure Base models are advertised to be “the best combination of silence and flexibility features for a good price”. Based on this review, it is easy to determine that be quiet! has delivered on this statement. With the full front mesh panel and three Pure Wings 2 fans, the 500DX has nailed the proper mixture of adequate airflow while maintaining relative silence.
