I recently read this book, having started it several years ago and found that it so distrubed me that the lives these young women seemed to be so expendable, I could not finish reading their story.

June was older than her sister by ten minutes, yet most people believed that Jennifer was the manipulative sister. I’ve thought about the book a lot since reading it as it packed in a lot of stuff, such as addiction, parental grief, sexual relationship with a teacher, duelling with ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, spats with Sister, best friend Ryan coming out to him and making advances, hanging with the wrong crowd and prison. Wallace, one of the only people June and Jennifer would talk to, ended up reporting extensively on the behavior that allegedly spooked the Broadmoor staff. Connoisseurs of weird crime stories—or weird twin stories, for that matter, or the surprisingly rich subgenre of weird twin crime stories—can do no better than the bizarre, tragic yarn of the Gibbons twins. Lyrics include: ‘For you my sister, holding onto me forever / Disco dancing with the rapists, your only crime is silence,’ in reference to their Broadmoor sentence.

Facing bullying and ostracisation at school (the education system clearly failed them, as would the health and legal services), they apparently retreated into their own private world before being dragged into the public spotlight in the 1980s after being arrested for acts of vandalism, theft and arson. Dynamika ich stosunków – od absolutnej miłości i oddania, po brutalną rywalizację pełną nienawiści – rozbudza wyobraźnię na temat związków między bliźniętami i bliskimi relacjami w ogóle. Some doctors thought the high dose of medication she took at Broadmoor might have weakened her immune system ,but the twins had received the same treatment during their time in Broadmoor. At the inquest, June revealed that Jennifer had been acting strangely for about a day before their release; her speech had been slurring, and she had said that she was dying. It took me six hours in one sitting to read due to my dyslexia and before you ask, I'm sorry to disappoint as I can't photocopy and post it online for all to see because I don't own it.

In Gibbons’ hands, an awkward pause becomes an “elaborate silence,” and his teacher’s breasts are “cloche-shaped. SMITH: They barely graduated high school, and at the time of their arson spree, June and Jennifer were still living with their parents. June had even written a full-length novel, "Pepsi-Cola Addict," and Jennifer had written a story about two birds raised in a zoo. Eventually, a specialist in elective mutism determined, after slowing down audio recordings she had made of the their discourse, that the twins were speaking regular English but so quickly that it was unrecognizable to the average listener. The doctors at the Caswell Clinic deduced that the medications given to the girls at Broadmoor must have provoked Jennifer’s immune system — though they also noted that June was given the same medications and was in perfect health upon arriving,” All That’s Interesting reported. A 2016 interview with her sister Greta revealed that the family had been deeply troubled by the girls' incarceration. The Gibbons family moved from Barbados to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, as part of the Windrush generation. And today, we're exploring what it means to forgive; to forgive other people; to forgive yourself, but what if yourself is spit in two?
